We installed a junk yard 5.0 HO engine out of a '91 Mustang with 30,000 miles on it into my son's '89 LX this weekend. While test driving it, after a good warm up, it blows blue smoke out both exhausts when accellerating hard. What could be causing this, and how do we test to narrow the problems down? Can the EGR system cause oil to be burnt? Rings? Valve seals? Do we have something hooked up wrong with wiring or vacuum? Help!

Gotta love how junkyards lie. I bought a motor for a '96 Blazer at a junkyard and they told me it only had 86k on it.

I went back there for some other parts for the truck and looked at the Blazer the motor was from and it had 113k on it.

It burned oil too. Atleast the bearings were ok unlike the motor I replaced.
