So I just got a Autometer Sport-Comp Monster tack from my brother and i plan on installing it sometime this week. But the ppl who had my car before had a tach that they mounted to the dash just like i want to do. Sadly none of the holes line up for this tach and i dont really want to put any more holes in the dash. What would you guys suggest? Glue maybe and then later i can remove it with some kind of thinner? Just go for it and drill them? Im open to anything.

Thanks
Anthony

Flip the mounting bracket upside down and mount it under the passenger glove box facing towards you.

If the dash is already drilled I say just line the mounting bracket up so it covers the old holes, and then drill the new ones. Most people cringe nowadays at the idea of drilling a dash, but Ford made a few million of these cars, I say mod it how you want it (within reason).

here's what I use. Mounts with 3m tape holds firm to the dash and I didn't have to drill any holes in the dash

i kinda wanted it on the dash cause i can just see one of my friends some how killing that thing with there knee. Plus it has a shift light on it and wouldnt that be kinda weird shining from under the passanger side? idk i might mock it up under there some how and see what i think. Does anyone elese have there tach mounted under the glove box that i could see a pic of?

There are 3 brackets spaced out on the back. Each bracket fits Against the dash and double sided 3m adhesive "tape" sticks it to the dash.

Why don't you make a template of the current holes in your dash and drill new holes in the mounting bracket to match the ones in the dash??

your tach should have come with directions, if not contact autometer for specific instructions

it did come with directions i just wondered if maybe someone knew what color the wire was comin off of the neg. side of the coil, the ignition switch, and maybe what lighting someone taped into? cause all it says is connect to those 3 things doesnt say color or where to look for them really.

thanks

best place to tap into lighting is the headlight switch, then when your headlights are on, your tach light is on
