well took it to the track today and my best pass was a 12.11 @ 118.9mph :D on the 245/45/17 tires in fact the track people kept telling me I was in the wrong lane since I was on street tires I kept telling them that I should be in Pro class I had a full tank of gas so the car was a little heavy the 60ft where terrible 2.065 all in all one very good day :nice:

Ya your definately going to need some MTs if you cant hook up with the gears your running now and plan to go to 3.73s....Well with that MPH your doing something wright :nice: But your 60' would definaley be challenging with 3.73s and street tires :D

I am also going to be changing the heads so that I can drop some compresion 11.3 is to much for pump gas and I can not afford race fuel all the time so I have some ported vic Jr and a solid roller cam that will be getting put in as soon as I get the rest of the parts, lifters, pushrods, etc... I would like to see 120mph to 122mph traps with the changes

You have the power to go low 11's with real gears. What heads are you running now?

IF the rearend of your car is as stock as it sounds, you have some decisions to make regarding gears, tires, and how to beef-up your running gear. You are making a lot of power so the portential for making a mess on the track is high -once you get traction tires.

the heads are Vic Jr with the 60cc chambers and as far as the rear end is conserned the rear end is completely stock plans for the rear end are to have the ends cut off 9" ends welded on and disc brakes, a girdle, 31 spline axles, not sure on the posi unit yet with probably 3.73 gears and a 28" tall tire and when that all goes together will have the new sway bar and control arms since they are all stock as well

Are you going with the Brodix 69cc heads to drop the compression?

With 28" ties, you'll be cutting the 3.73's to 3.46's. Am I to assume that this is not being setup for drag racing?

Unless you are road racing, I highly recommend staying away from an Auburn.

Are you carburated?

Do you have plans for the Victor JR's?

the heads are vic jr 70cc chambers with some work done to them
I need that gear for the mph that I plan on doing I am putting some nitrous on for now and so hope to have 130 plus traps and 3.73 is to steep for 26" tire eventually will have either an 88mm Turbo or a F1R procharger still not sure might come down to money
I am fuel injected with the stock computer but am planning on a DFI when money allows
as for the vic jr's I lplan on selling them they have only 500 miles on them

Victor Jr's with 70cc chambers??? Are you certain? The only version of Victor Jr's I know of have 60cc chambers. You will certainly need to drop that compression to run either power adder. Why did you get such high compression pistons in the first place if you planned on a power adder?

I don't follow your point about 26 inch tires being "too steep" for 3.73's. Do you mean you cannot turn the RPM needed to run 130 mph with 3.73 gears?

What intake are you running?

yes edelbrock makes the vic jr in 70cc they are new, in fact I was the first one to order them from summit racing. the reason for the compression is that I bought the motor this way and thought the compression was a little lower I had originaly thought it was about 10.8:1 then when I was ready to put on the power adder then I would put on the big chamber heads well I did not take into account that the deck height was set at 0 and as far as the gears a 26" tire would be perfect N/A but with a power adder they are to much 6000rpm is a 124 mph with the 3.73

Nice numbers! I thought of building a nitrous 408, but am not sure if I will. It will be this fall before I begin engine work anyway. Sounds like you have a good plan laid out. What gearbox are you running? My '95 is basically a road-race oriented car at this point, but I'll probably drag it a few times before I start building a notchback. I'm tossing around the same ideas for engine/power adder combos as you are, though I'm not sure which car will get what combo.

the gear box is still the stock T-5 the only thing not stock on this car is the 408ci and a set of steeda springs  in fact I am still using the stock gages for now :nonono:

Did the prior owner of the engine have it decked? Most piston makers leave at least .02 at the top to accomodate the early 69-70 Windsor blocks. The 70cc heads will drop you from 11.3 to about 10.5. You'll need to moderate your boost a little but you can run the power adder. You could go nitrous, and keep the compression... -but you probably considered that already.

What type of intake manifold are you using and what size injectors?

going from a 60cc to a 70 cc will drop it to 10.213 comp. according to the program that I used. I am also looking at different head gasket thickness's in the bronze gaskets .042= 10.192 / .050= 10.024 / .060= 9.822 with a 4.060 gasket bore (most head gaskets are .039 compressed with a 4.166 gasket bore) the only thing I am worried about is the quence and if that would promote detination. Yes I did consider the bottle but the fact is I still need to drop the compression since I can not run pump gas right now and at $6.75 a gallon that would break me quick :nonono:
the intake is the Trick Flow 351W 90mm upper and FMS 42# with a 255lph intank
