New to 2.3L foxbody

Hello,

I am brand new to these machines and considering buying one and selling off the old Escort wagon. I have found an '83 stang 2.3L notcback w/3 speed auto. SInce this is an older foxbody running a carburated engine, I was wondering what there is to look out for on this engine/trans and if it is better to get a later model 2.3L foxbody with FI instead. Not familiar with cars much either. Thanks for any help/advice in advance.

You might be better off with the escort, depending on the condition of each. The 2.3 mustang will be truely pathetic with an automatic and carb. The transmission would be your biggest concern. It is probably a C3 which isn't tolerant of heat, misuse or high mileage.

for the most power and reliability look for a later car, 90-93 with a t5 manual, they were the best of the N/A 2.3L cars
