hey guys im new to the mustang scene and i want to change my oil today. I plan on doing the lucas treatment but I am just looking for some input as to which weight of oil I should run. I just switch over to mobil1 syn 10w30 about 1000 miles ago and i heard i should change it again due to the fact the syn flushes the motor out. also what oil fliter is recommended-thanks

Motorcraft filter, same as purelator or wix but much cheaper... in fact the ford filters are some of the best on the market.

Don't put that lucas garbage in your car unless there is something wrong with it. Might as well just put gear oil in there instead. I only recomend the lucas stuff when an engine had knock or something wrong, it will quiet things down and pad things and mabe make a bad engine go a little longer, but that's it.

Its just oil, and some brainiac chemist has already done the hard work for you. Find a synthetic brand you like (Mobil 1 and Valvoline are my two favorites), buy 5 quarts of synthetic 10W30 and dump it in every 5K miles. No need to do anything crazy, and don't listen to any of the urban legends about synthetics. Synthetics just last longer and lubricate better than conventional oils.

For my money, I only use Ford Motorcraft filters, and like said above, you can find them for cheap at Wal-Mart. You want the FL-1A, IIRC.

I had a freak issue with a Purolator gettin stuck on my 66 and I had to fight to get it off...torch and prybar were included in the tool list that night. With that said, every single vehicle I own used an FL1A and you can get em cheap at WallyWorld...so thats all Ill use from here on out! Motorcraft FTW!!!
