new to this genra of stangs 2000gt traction control

whats the deal with traction control its on by default it seems. Im use to driving fox bodies what the hell is traction control.

my 00GT doesnt have traction control. i think they started that in 02 on the GT's but i could be wrong. either way it is an option (button) that you can turn on and off.

The only time I've noticed it do anything besides make the green cinnamon roll come on is when I start to get a little sideways and it bogs.

When it's on, it helps traction by detecting wheelspin. When a wheel starts spinning, it applies the brake to that wheel, cuts fuel supply, and retards the timing so as not to let it keep spinning. Great for in the rain/snow, but crappy for having fun. Just pull the fuse out if you don't want it and be done with it.

*shrug* my 2000gt has it. Its a button near the shifter area console kinda below cd player junk. And Black button when ya press it, it says Off underneath it. And it turns itself back on every time i shut it off and turn it on. Yeah traction control sounds lame! lol

If its as easy as CManT says, just pulling a fuse to kill it, DO IT! There's nothing more embarassing than dumping the clutch expecting a spectacular smokey and the engine falls on its face.

i wonder why some 2000 GT's have it and some dont???

Was always an option on F-Bodies too, except TA's w/M6.

They make an inverter kit that makes it so whenever you turn on the car it automatically is off instead of automatically on..

Its saved my butt several times!

I don't know what fuse. As you can see from my sig, I don't exactly have a recent Mustang. I just know my friend with a 2000 GT pulled the fuse on his to disable it.

I agree that it would suck if you couldn't turn it off, but that is not the case. I would never allow my wife to drive my stang if I didn't have the traction control. It has saved my ass several times when driving carelessly on dirt roads or when the 1st snow in the winter falls.

The KB is going in on friday and I guess I have to pull the fuse and tell the wife that she can't drive the convertible anymore

I've had my '01 for almost three years now, and
just recently discovered that you can turn the
ABS on/off thru the radio. But for the life of me,
I can't figure out why anyone would disable the
ABS system.
