Where are you seeing stuff about poor quality? All of my stuff has been great and I don't think I've heard of any unhappy customers...?

Yea thats what i was getting at.
Then they are cleaned up by hand after the CNC is done. Hand porting will never be dead. Its kind of a lost art, but someone has to hand port the casting before the CAD guys can model it.
... And the cad guys design the rough port before the porting guys get their hands on it.
What I'm getting at is this stuff is not whittled from stone by leather-handed blacksmiths. I would be inclined to believe that nowadays the majority of the design work is done on a computer monitor and then small adjustments are made by hand. I would think that's especially true for the OEMs.

Uh, so let me get this straight, no pun intended. All this time these canted valves that everybody raves about that"unshroud the valve from the cylinder" are being improved upon by lessening the angle from 13 to 11, and 17 to 15 degrees? Interesting.
In other news, AFR just redesigned their line up as well, improving their SBF heads. The 225 race head was replaced by a smaller port size that flows more, and there is a 195 now that flows in the neighborhood of 305-310cfm.
It seems this is the year everyone is stepping up their game!

yeah, its called a porters casting. and if flow were the only thing that determined how well and engine accellerates, hand porting would probably be a thing of the past. but there is a lot that goes into a good head that doesnt show up on the flow bench at 28" of depression.
"Canted" just means the valve moves away from the cylinder wall as it opens. People keep calling the TWs a canted valve, but I don't think it really qualifies...?
Also, stock SBF valve angle is what, 20 degrees or so? So these heads would be an even further departure from stock valve geometry tan the regular TWs. Not sure if that's what you were getting at or not...
valve angle goes the other way lower angle the better is a rule of thumb... IIRC the valve angles on the race car are 10* and 7*
Screw it... I'm going to get me a set of ProComps and call it a day.
Save the money and port some GT40s dood. They make hella power.

Man my cousin's brother in law said to use truck heads off a '75 Econoline van cause they're cast from the old Mexican 290 HiPo police interceptor heads that flowed like 350cfm without porting. They're supposed to be made of magnesium which is stronger than aluminum and lighter than iron. I think they had like 2.20 intake valves and like 1.90 exhaust valves IIRC. You probably need to use P swap headers on them though to clear the duel spark plugs per cylinder.
I heard of those.
My Dad converted a set to use on his 74 Super Beetle that he had back in 1982. They were off a 89 Econoline.

Eeeeh i thought that maybe they bought the ARAO patent or developed their own 32v head. Or even something cooler like a 32v Solenoid actuated head with a computer that plugged into the distributor wiring to keep it in sync.

Mmm a Camless 32v or maybe even a 40v. You could go from mild valve timing to full race at the touch of a button. It would blow away variable timing. Think of it....a push button cam swap!!!

dont forget to poor sand in the intake to help blend the intake runners to the heads and smooth out the combustion chamber.

I only want them if they're Mexican E6s with the higher nickel content.
