I've posted about this before in the past but have not until recently been able to go ahead and get some new wheels and tires.

I am wanting to know if the below set-up would work on my 1967 Fastback without any rubbing issues. has the stock suspension without the shelby drop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Front End:

-17x8 with 5.72" backspacing and a 1 inch spacer
-225/40/17 Nitto NT555

Rear End:

-18x9 with 5.94" backspacing (was told that no spacer should be needed)
-275/35/18 Nitto NT555

Thanks guys.

Dodgestang, what spacer would you recommend? About a 1/4 inch to acheive approx 5.5 inch backspacing? If so would the 275/35 work given that I've always believed that nitto's run smaller than avg.

I have no doubt that the 275 will work on 1967 mustangs.

Based on information I have received when creating the wheel charts 1/2 spacer was used on wheels with that backspacing to provide visual parity on the track width/wheel inset front to back not necessarily to make it all fit, they also ended up with rear fender lips rolled because of it, it is something to think about though.

I do know I would want to be a little off the leafs since the wheel wells aren't squared up so I would personally want a spacer with that much BS and I would try out both the 1/4 and a 1/2 spacer. They aren't too expensive to pick up both sets at pepboys figure out which spacing you like better and return the ones you don't need ;)

Those wheel well mouldings are the tricky variable ;)

Thanks dodgestang. You have always been a big help. I will try both and see what works best for me

Next question, how safe are using spacers? Using the 1 inch hubcentric style on the front and the regular ones on the rear?

Spacers: I wouldn't go over 1/2 inch. I ran a 3/8 spacer on one side in the rear of my 65 for a short time (long story but the 3 link and watts fixed that issue ;) ) I got a false tight once and lost 4 of 5 lugs, broke 3 studs, had the wheel start wobbling and almost lost control of the car...so I would recommend triple checking it is tight ;)

Adapters: bolt on for the front. I have not heard of any issue with those and certainly would never be caught dead in a car that attempted to space a wheel out further than 1/2 that wasn't using them.

Will defintely triple check when tightening and will also check them periodically.

I will post up some pics when I get them next month and let you know what spacers worked best.

I think it looks 10 times better with the Cragars and TA's it has now. However, if you want that type of wheel, I think the 17 inch OEM Bullitt type wheels would look better. Maybe its just the center cap that looks better. They are available in chrome, dark gray, and black.

I think you should go with this if you want to change to the Bullitt wheels.

I don't think you have to change your studs to use spacers, but I'm not sure. Thats another reason why I would keep the wheels that are on it. I don't trust spacers as far as I can throw them. Its just one more thing to fail.

Thanks for the info Tx65coupe. Those wheels that I am getting are exact replicas of the OEM Bullits with a different center cap that are a lot cheaper. I defintely plan to get the OEM center caps like in the picture you posted. You can get those on ebay and replace them in seconds. I did the same thing on my 2002 GT. Bought aftermarket OEM style wheels for less and replaced the centers and there was no way you could tell a difference.

As for the Cragers in the picture they are no longer on the car these days. I currently have the TA's mounted to the factory styled steel wheels. It looks a lot better, than the old played out cragers that I put on there 10 years ago when I didn't know any better.

Im just not a big fan of chrome wheels anymore. I will still have my original wheels that look good that I can swap back and forth between.

Most likely. I run 3 inch studs and open acorns in the back because of drag racing so I never ran into that problem, I would suspect you will need longer studs though in the rear.

Ok, will do. I know I'm probably bugging the hell out of you but I just want to make sure I do this right and get everything I need.

How long are the stock studs? How long should I need if going with a 1/4 inch spacer, being that I don't want to run open acorns? (or where could I find this out) Also how many threads is safe after I put the spacer on counting from the spacer out? (if that makes any sense)

That may have come off a little to harsh. I like the look of the cragers on certain cars but it just isn't my taste anymore. I'll try to post up some pics of my car with the original styled steel wheels. I think it looks so much better, mainly because it looks stock. From that pic the white 67 doesn't look pretty good with the cragers. Is it your car? And as always I'm loving your fastback, it has a perfect stance!

Also, If anyone wants my set of cragers they are for sale. PM me!

1. Don't know
2. Don't know because I don't know 1
3. Alot of threads ;)

Sorry I can't be more help on the stud issue.

I do know studs are readily available so it isn't like you have mail order them and wait. You can get everything you need and get them at Napa (maybe even pepboys/autozone/insert auto store here).
