Looks . I was even considering those. They definitely make the car look newer.

Those are (IMO) the best looking stock rims for a GT (even though they didn't show up until '96). Sounds like you got a good deal.

I am going to sand blast them and repaint them silver. i am going to fix all the scratches and such too. My buddy said that you could use some bondo to fix in the scratches. has anyone tried filling them with welds. My buddy has a welder that will weld alluminum, i am just scared of heating them up in the wrong way.

Anyone else thinking of saying no to bondo-ing wheels???? I dunno, I seem to think the wheels will flex too much and bondo go buh-bye.

If your friend has a TIG setup I think that would be ideal. That way you don't get as big/sloppy of welds as you would with a mig. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that idea. Maybe someone else will see different.

From an engineering standpoint, I say DON'T HAVE A BUDDY WELD THE WHEELS. When you weld aluminum you have to put an awful lot of heat into it. Once you've finished welding, the heat affected zone will be pretty soft. You would then have to send the wheels out to be artificially age-hardened.

Since you're going to paint them anyway, I'd say that there is no harm in the bondo route, but you might be better off with a 2-part epoxy for filling purposes that would be better at sticking to the metal when it heats up from braking.
