Hey everyone, long time since my last post. Ive been having some trouble with installing my rear brakes. I bought all new rotors and pads all around on my 96 cobra... even bought new caliper brackets for the back since i found out one of the pins was frozen. Ive now been having trouble with the piston on one of the back brakes. It just wont seem to push in all the way. View attachment 377206 I've tried using that little cube (sucks), and just went to autozone to rent the better tool. Still wont go in further. It is honestly about a 1/16 of an inch of difference and it would go on wonderfully. Im not the most mechanically versed, so please go easy on me. Im mostly self taught (which is not the greatest to say the least).
The E-Brake is off. The cap to the brake fluid is off, as Ive heard it relieves some pressure.
Am I right to assume that if this piston screws in, that it must have a stopping point and wont just keep spinning? It pushes out, as Ive loosened them and it goes fairly nicely.
Im stumped View attachment 377207 .Any help here would be mostly appreciated
Thanks!
p.s. i did a couple searches, got close to what i needed, but still not quite there.

Did you buy parts store pads??

There is a difference between GT and Cobra pads. For the most part since they are the same calipers, they use the same pads. Only difference is the Cobra pads have less material due to having a thicker venter rotor.

Problem is most parts store pads are all GT thickness pads. I've had friends buy pads and get the larger GT pads for their cobras and not being able to get them on.

This could be your issue as well.

I have a set of Ford OEM pads here. NOT INCLUDING the backing plate, i have exactly 0.435" of pad material which is about 7/16". This is for the GT. The cobra should have about 1/8" less on the pad, or about 5/16 or 0.3125" of pad. See if you can determine which pads you actually have
