This has happened to me twice this month so far. I was getting on the interstate and I punched it to pass some cars, the pedal went all the way to the floor, the car speed up but when I let off the pedal, it didn't come back up. Scared the crap out of me, the car just kept accelerating. After about three seconds it kicked back.

I didn't see any obstructions around the pedal (floor mat, carpet bunching, etc).

Any ideas?

check where it mounts to the throttle body, there's also a bracket and springs that could be binding....also, do you know if your throttle body is stock or after market?? some people say some after market ones can stick open....just a thought

If you disconnect the accelerator cable at the TB, see if you can get the butterfly to stick again. This would tell you it is the butterfly/TB orifice itself, and not the cable catching.

Some peeps have had to clearance aftermarket TB's and some TB's have screws on the butterfly axis so you can adjust the butterfly.

Random thoughts. Good luck.
