Hey! I'm new to this 5.0 thing. I have a 94' 5.0 and planning on UPGRADING it soon. So i just bought a 94-95 fully ported cobra intake mani with a 70mm bbk TB. The heads im looking at getting are the GT-40 "X" heads aka Turbo Swirls....are those good? And thing I need to get for the install besides the ususal arp studs and gaskets? Cam...i was thinking the steeda #19. should i go 1.6 rollers or 1.7rollers? And also, is there any difference in power/torque between unequal and equal shorties? Thanks for any help!

sounds like you have a good idea for starters. The Cobra intake will be good, the X heads are good for the money, and the cam works great with our car's computers. I'm not suer about which rockers you need, depends on how much lift you want. Equal are suppost to give more power, unequal are cheaper. Equal are a bitch becuse you cant hardly change spark plugs.

Good luck

i would go with the size rockers the cam is designed for...... some cams are designed for 1.6, and some for 1.7..... so calculated valve lift is sometimes for 1.7's if that is what the cam is set up for..... should tell you in the description..... i think the most lift you can run with the larger valves etc. is around 540, i clayed my pistons to measure PTV valve clearance with my 54cc milled factory heads, and i was just under the specs you want intake/ exhaust........

thanks guys! The steeda #19 is the same as the #18 but with my valve overlap for out eec's. the #18 is said to use 1.7s. is there any hardware that you know of for the install of the heads? I saw somewhere out there i need some sort of washers....

Well when i did my rebuild, i couldn't get the driver's side head off without taking off the powersteering pump and bracket. I think you have to take them off on all rebuilds. You can rent a power steering pump puller/installer at autozone for $42 and when you bring it back they give you all your money back.

Here is a tip that could save you some money.

Your gonna need larger inj's with the plans you posted.

You can go with a C&L or a ProM maf.
ProM would be my choice but, ...... don't get a ProM maf caled for 19's and try to make the 19's work.

Get a C&L or a ProM maf with a cal that matches your larger inj's.
