Planning to go the my local 1/8 mile track for the first time this summer as soon as I replace my clutch

I currently have 275 40 17 Goodyear F-1 tires with 17X9 wheels out back.

I still have my old ten holes with Dunlop SP Sport 8000 245 50 ZR tires on them
and was very happy on the way the 245's gripped

What tire whoul be be the best with my current mods in my sig?

Note: It seems like if I get more wheel spin with the 275's
WHAT gives?

The 245 50's are 24.7" tall
The 275's are 25.6 tall

Note: Drags radials or any other tire on the Ten holes is not an option.

The 245/50's are thinner but have more sidewall so they squat better than the 275/40's. Eagle F1's are some of the worse drag tires you can get due to thier stiff sidewall. They were designed for Vette's and other cars meant for cornering. And alos meant to work well in the rain. I work for Goodyear, those tires are very stiff. Dunlop Sport 8K's arn't bad tires, they have a little better footprint and have much more flex.

I had 225/60R15's on my turbines, swiched to 275/40R17's on my Cobra R's and traction got worse, until I added Nitto DR's.

90mustangGt thanks for the info

I'm glad I didn't get rid of the ten holes
Now I know to pop those ten holes on before heading to the track!

Anymore suggestions from anyone else?

I would use the old tires also, the old tires have a smaller tire height. Using the shorter tire over the taller tire will increase your rear gear ratio for you.
