newbie to the mod 4.6

I am new to the mod game, and have some questions i hope you guys can answer. I was pony-less since 98 when for some stupid reason i traded my 92 lx hatch(12.70 ets) for a f-150 and had 2 more kids, but now im back with a new 04 gt and am clueless as to what works and what doesnt.

Do the same boltons(pulleys, exhaust, CAI) all still provide the same hp gains as before? What are the first things i need to do to have a fast grocery getter? I will take the car to the track from time to time but that wont be the primary use.
