NHRA Rule Questions

I hope to eventually build a nitrous assisted combo capable of running mid to high 10's in my 89 Mustang GT. I want to setup the car so it is NHRA legal now. I have a question about the following rule:

"4.6 ROLL CAGE

Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 mph (217.2 km/h). Full bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), running between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99) roll bar permitted in place of roll cage. Cars running between 7.50 (*4.50) and 9.99 (*6.39) must have chassis inspected every three-years by the ASN and have a serialised sticker affixed to cage before participation. Must conform to specs for body style used, as listed in General Regulations 4.11, 10.6."

Does that mean I can use a roll bar instead of a cage? Like a 4 point setup. The reason I ask is that I will also be driving this one on the street and I am trying to keep things simple.

Question 2: Can I legally (NHRA) have my battery mounted in the hatch if I use an aluminum box, which one should i use?

Thanks.

Roll bar must still be 6pt, but you can install swing out side bars, and remove them when you are on the street
I use a Maximum Motorsports 6 pt bolt in with swing outs, NHRA legal

I dont think 4pts are legal for any type of racing anymore, more of a show bar

Technically, a 5pt is legal provided you haven't altered the factory firewall. But 6pt is the norm.
As for the battery box, you will need to have a sealed battery box with the vent going outside the interior area. If the Alum box is sealed and vented, then it would be legal.

Mike, Todd "Stangfireman" has a Black coupe, Factory Stock NMRA car. It is Bob Cosby's old car, should fly this year if Todd can drive

The big question. Can he drive. LOL Think I need to upload the clean pictures of the coupe. Looks much better without road salt all over it.

89Stang,
Hope that helped. Maybe we'll catch you at a race of two this year.

Mike,
Hope to see you there and come by the pit Sat. night. Should be a "little" party going on. Might even get Billy to make a Mudslide or two.

And can anyone tell me why I don't get an email when there's a reply? I checked my settings three times and nothing is amiss.
