The good thing about it is that it will/can always look better. All it will cost you to make that happen is time and effort. The pic doesn't show, but I'm gonna assume you got past your last little hissy fit where you were btchin about it being full of scratches then?

This was a once in a lifetime deal. Fortunately,..I was the extremely lucky benefactor. In order for the stars to realign like this again, it will require the additional missing ingredients:

1. Stupidly obscure project car.
2. Weeks of endless frustration doing junk you're not capable of doing.
3. Three hoods.
4. Three random pics of towels flying through the air.
5. One garage with a orange floor.
6. One RT plane ticket for a cancelled flight,...later to be used on a real flight.
7 One broken compressor.
8. One cardboard box.

Well, I am a MAF, injectors, and fuel pump away from being able to install my H/C/I as far as parts go. However, when I pull the tank to change the FP, I really want to replace it. And while I am doing that, I want to wire wheel and paint the body above where it hangs... So for now, I think I am going to finish the body work Ive been doing, keep saving $ for parts, and drive it in stock form for another year. By that time I should be able to rebuild/replace my shortblock also, which allows me to get the most out of these parts.

So stayed tuned for pics of the front and rear bumpers finished, as its starting to get nice out again. That is the main focus again.

I have it polished up enough to meet my standards for the time being. Give me a couple years and I will mail you the whole car (including the scoop) for a paint job.

Alright, tonight I made my brackets out of existing side skirt bracketry to pull the sides of the bumper in where I wanted. They arent pretty yet, but they work. I will be using different hardware on the bumper end, to eliminate the nut being such an eyesore. I also couldnt bring myself to leave the driver's side of the bumper so thin you could vaguely see the SN body line. So I roughed it up and smeared some PBA on it and another wonky area on the trim. I dont think either area would have stood out much, but this just makes me feel a little better about it.

Only snapped pics of the driver's side, as the passenger side has no room to step back.

Thats a good question, and here is the issue. I want to, because obviously it would look better. However, I have tire clearance issues and already had to break out the BFH to get those brackets out of the tire's way. So to cover it even with thin plastic, would only last a short time without me doing some more extensive work. Have I mentioned how I feel about body work?

So the brackets will be painted black, and the little gap is gonna stay. The way I make myself feel better about it is that there was already a "vent" in that area from the factory fender extensions, so why not just mimic that with my own version.

Tell me again, now that the area is washed, prepped, and painted, just how noticably unfinished is it? This body work hating individual thinks it looks pretty good enough.

I have 18X9's up front, so yes they fill the wheel well, especially with it being an '89. After having to beat on the car to get the tire not to rub the bracket, I am slightly considering selling these wheels and going with a 17" set up.
