If I remember right, yours is a Summit unit tho? Nothing against that, Ive just heard nothing but good about Accufab, and have always wanted one. Now that the time came around, thats what I had my heart set on.

I got a little chore done today. I redid the driver's side catalytic convertor, and then welded both sides fully. They are currently off the car for some more grinding and high temp paint. It aint pretty, but it fits tight and is no longer upside down.

I have to pull the trans for a new clutch, which is another reason the exhaust isnt back on the car. Bitch of that is now that I'll have the trans out for a second time, I have to clean and POR 15 the tunnel this time. Not looking foward to that, but it'll be nice when its done.

I got the to going boozing with the buddies today/tonight, so I dug into the car instead. That was our compromise.

I got the transmission back out, and took off my intake to thoroughly clean it the inside. I have the new (to me) TB and spacer, but didnt install it back on the intake yet, as it needs some polishing.

I put in a new rear main seal.

Out with the old.

In with the new. Notice I wasnt taking chances on my oil pan leaking, lol.

Turns out I have an aluminum flywheel, didnt even notice when I put it on the first time. Do one of you guys know the brand, so I can buy the right insert? Seller of the engine cant remember.

That would be nice if I had family around to watch our kids, or a babysitter that didnt cost more than my day/night out... What ever happened to babysitters being like $3 per hour?

Looks like the Spec and Fidanza inserts are the same, so I picked up Fidanza part number 221101 for the friction insert. Fingers crossed its the right one. Tomorrow will be power washing the tunnel and prep for POR15. I didnt really bother with it during the engine swap.

@Davedacarpainter , thats some funny . Honestly, I havent found that logo when searching the interwebz. And the only part number stamped on it doesnt net anything either. Well see how the insert I bought fits!

Passed away. My parents, and my father-in-law live about three hours away. When they come visit, we spend the time with them rather than going out. I bet if my mother-in-law was still alive that they would have moved here to be closer to the kiddos. She was very much involved with my oldest son before she passed.

That's a shame. Sorry to hear. We are fortunate that both our parents live close enough to see them frequesntky enough that we get the opportunity to do individual things. Now that the little guy is almost 5 months, it's gotten much easier for us. Hopefully I can actually work on my motor mods this year

Today's task suuuuuucked. Power washing did nothing to the grime, so out came the grinder with a wire wheel. After about an hour, I then had to steel wool behind the fuel lines, and around the ebrake cables. I did only the tunnel, and will do the rest of the undercarriage in parts.

I have gone back and forth on whether to use silver POR15 or black, and decide since the lower portion of the exterior is silver, that'll be the ticket. Plus, I already used silver under the gas tank as well.

PS, do you think my pressure plate got hot when I fried the clutch?

Thanks Dave. I will do the rest of it after I weld in my SFC's and jacking rails (like our good buddy Mike built under his car). I want it to be done so that I know I never have to worry about rust. Its nice knowing every inch of your car.

Change of plans. I can only get POR15 in black here locally. I want to knock it out this week, so no ordering online. Got to thinking about it, and I want to use it on my rear axle too. Def not doing that in silver. Plus, I am going to go the extra mile and line the trans tunnel in that stick on heat barrier as well, so the color of paint wont even matter. I will order a pint of silver when it comes time to coat the SFC/jacking rail area.

It also crossed my mind that I didnt clean up the area where the mufflers tuck up under the floor, so now I need to go to Home Depot for another wire wheel. I want to be able to paint and heat wrap that area too, to help keep drone out of the car.

I don't miss that job.

What material are you going to use for the heat barrier? I was thinking of doing something like that. I'd like to put a heat shied in the trans tunnel and around the mufflers to keep the interior from heating up as I idle in traffic on a warm day.

Trying to see if I can something like this locally, but obviously in a larger roll.

At the same time, Home Depot has adhesive backed foil barrier for hvac systems, so I will check that out while Im there for a wire wheel. Will depend on if it looks like it can handle water or not.

This is the Home Depot stuff Im seeing. 4ft by 12 ft roll for $20. Cant really beat that.

Edit: dammit, no stores in my area stock it and they cant have it until the 27th. Might as well order the correct thing at that rate. The hunt continues.
