Thanks and it'll only get buisier... We are going to hav another baby in December! I think you have helped fuel the fire with this thread! I have to get the blue car to the track! NMCA comes to Indy this year and I want to have it there for that! I want to find a set of GT-40 heads for the street car and want to get it tuned, it's still as rich as it was in school! The car looks great on here, I can't wait to see it in person again!

Wow, congrats, man! You guys are going to have a little army soon!

+100 on doing it yourself.

Only thing I've had someone else do on my car was mount the tires. Everything else has been done by me...including alignment.

When I was doing my AOD-to-t5 swap, I refused to ask for help. So while I was lifting the trans, it slipped and I tried to catch it. Ended up slicing open my finger andnneeding stitches. Two days later, with hand in protective splint, I still didn't ask for help and put that t5 in all by myself with a little thoughtful creativeness

I caught a TKO that came off of the lift under my car and standing on oil, I was struggling not to crush myself with it. I had to sit down and take a break after that scary moment...

+1 It does look great, and looking forward to seeing dyno numbers as well!

Any predictions or thoughts on what she's gonna pull?

I was just telling myself the other day, I'm definitely buying a transmission jack the next time I have to yank the trans. The muscle method gets old, especially when you're covered with grease and your arms are sore and you still couldn't get it in there because the clutch is out of alignment. :censored:

Not necessarily a prediction, more of a goal. I don't want to jinx it, so let's just say I'll let you guys know if I made my goal or not once the dyno numbers are in. I'll give you a hint: I hope to achieve what most would need a 331 or a 347 to do. I also hope to be competitive with the new Coyote.

Haha, sorry guys. The reason I haven't had an update lately is because the bulk of the work I've done is under the car (fuel pump/tank, exhaust, transmission, driveshaft, starter, etc) and not really worth taking pictures of. I have started putting on accessory brackets, alt, etc, so once that's done I'll snap a pic or two and post them up.

Nah, I have a bunch of little crap yet to do. There is still a bunch of lose wiring I need to button up, I need to run some vacuum lines, need to convert the car to MAF (have all the stuff, just need to do it), need to reinstall the radiator/cooling system, blah blah blah. It'll be done in a week or so. Unfortunately, I was out of town over the weekend, so I missed out on a lot of time to work on the car.

Not so much an update here, more just a complaint.

The dumbest little things always turn into stumbling blocks when doing "custom" work like this. For example, ALL I needed was 1 FOOT of 4" OD tubing to fab up an intake for this new build. Of course you can find that all over the web, but I hate to pay 10$ for something only to pay 10$ in shipping and double my order. Plus I like to try to buy local when I can. So I looked all over town, and finally found a local place that sells aluminum tubing, and of COURSE they have a 25$ minimum order, even if you DRIVE to the warehouse and pick it up yourself. I wanted to crawl through the phone and kick that lady in the nuts.

I also called half a dozen muffler shops, but it seems nobody carries anything bigger than 3" at those places. Where the hell are all these tools getting their chimneys for their redneck Dodge Rams, then?

SO I finally admitted defeat and bought some off ebay. 8.90$ for the tube, 8.55$ for shipping, and of course I have to wait 4 days for it, too.

I made a CAI out of a used tail pipe from a deisel truck for a *cough* camaro once.... Did you ask the exhaust shop about their take off pile? I dug mine out of the dumpster behind the shop.....

If you wanted to paint it you could use 4"pvc from home depot....

I briefly considered that, and obsessively researched it like I do everything else. As it turns out, PVC has a relatively low melting/softening point. Didn't want to risk that.

it wont ever get that hot to melt it, I got my 4" from bandy's exhaust on u.s. 40. I think It cost me $20 and I got 4'.

Updaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

It's been a while, but I actually have been working on the car. Just have been doing a lot of boring stuff not worth posting pics of, like degreasing and installing accessory brackets. Yawn!

Well yesterday, I finally had some stuff worth taking pics of. The first couple items on the list are a little hillbilly, so be forewarned.

1. Went to stab the distributor and broke the hold down clamp. I'm incapable of doing anything gently, and my wife reminded me of that when I showed her the carnage. Rather than take an hour round trip to the pull-a-part, I spent 30 minutes hacking a new one out of a chunk of aluminum. Made sense at the time. It's temporary until I get another "real" one, but it does work. I can't turn the distributor with my hands while it's clamped down.

2. This is hillbilly item #2. If you remember from a few pages back, I had to "remove" the oil baffle in the valve cover to clear the roller rockers. Therefore, I needed a device to block oil spray from finding its way up into the vent line that runs to the throttle body. This is my solution, though I'm not 100% confident it will work. I guess I'll find out. It is just a couple of plates that will act as baffles once you screw in the oil fill cap. The notches cut in them are for clearance as it passes the vent tube in the oil filler neck. (Patent pending... )

OK, the rest of the pics are just of the engine bay assembly. Enjoy!

Ive been using a 4" piece of PVC for about a year now. It was meant to be temporary (didnt even paint it), but I havent bothered to replace it cause it works great. Everyone that happens to see it actually compliments the unpainted backyard hotrod look, surprisingly. I find it a bit embarrassing, even though my car is far from show quality.
