Well my old build was a cheap hurry up and get it back together and it held together for a whole 2000 miles. So this time im going to take my time do it right and work some serious O.T and build this one right!

Old build:
80k mile mark 8 bottom end
Stock p.i heads
CMS stage 1 cams
Bolt ons
4.10 gears

New build:
Mark 8 block .20 over
MMR 900hp rotating assembly w/ notched flat tops
Stock heads with crower vavle springs and titanium retainers
CMS stage 2 cams
MAC longtube headers
QA1 kmember w/ UPR coilovers
Electric waterpump
Steeda underdrive crank pully

I think with my new build I will easily hit my 11 second goal. Depending on how money is looking towards the end of the build I might step my intake up to a Logan sheet metal intake, with a cobra throttle body. When it is done im going to see how the 4.10s are with the new cams and I might be following 98cobra and getting 4.56s. I am in no rush to get it back together because I do not DD the car. Any opinions are welcome.

The reason i dont want to do ported heads is because i dont think the cost is worth the hp gain as of right now. Maybe down the road as it is getting built i might change my mind.
 
Well with the stage 1 cams I was shifting at 6300 so I imagine I will raise my shift point with the bigger cams. The only thing that is going to kill me is my stock P.I intake from revving so i might have to get the Logan intake. I was trapping at 5800ish with the 4.10s. With the 4.56s and a 26 inch slick I should trap like 6600ish. Keep me posted on how you times start coming in with the 4.56s. My buddy has a 2010 GT with 4.56s and just ran a 11.57 at 117 with cams, long tubes and bolt ons, and it is fun as hell to drive with 4.56s
 
Thanks Winters! I was trying to hit 11s with this combo but my rod bearing said that it wasn't going to happen. I find this as a reason to tell the lady friend why I need new parts...

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going for 10's with the stock heads/block in my car. It's been down for 3 of the last 6 months from breaking rear ends. She is not happy, to say it nicely.

Definitely keep us updated on everything with some pics. Look forward to it and hopefully i'll make it to the track when you take it out.

Does anyone know the fastest na 4.6 with a stock long block? My car being down is killing me and I got a stock long block with only 60k on it from a buddy for $375 . My plans now are to swap my cams in the stock long block, put my long tubes on, and get my new kmember and run the piss out of this motor while I get enough money to do a mmr long block with ported heads. I know I should do it right the first time but having this car sit is killing me. What are your suggestions?
 
Wait and do it all at once.

July isn't that far off to have a built motor, and you already have a start on it. No point in ripping out something to build a beast just to drop something stock back in. You may end up putting a built motor on the back burner if you just drop a stocker in now.

Swapping those cams in wouldn't really be the stock longblock, though. The one thing is, you would hate to break something major like the rear end or transmission right before you get the built motor swapped in. I'd still do it!:nice:

The only reason I considered doing this was to keep the car going and not sitting collecting dust. Thing have changed work wise, my job promoting me and is sending me into a class. So july has been pushed back to late august. Putting the motor in and pulling it out doesn't bother me all that much. And to mark thanks for the list and you kinda confused me on your veiw on it.
 
I didn't mean to confuse you. I just know your ET goals and going 11's. It would just stink to break something(tranny/rearend) that could set you back when you don't have your built motor in at this time. I was just trying to point out that you could suffer breakage before you final ET goals. I would also throw that motor in and run it like you are considering, but it might not be the best choice considering you are shooting for benchmark. Racing is just hard to get away from.
