Nitrous + what gears?

Well I guess its time I add some gears, also plannin on adding 100-150 shot sometime in the near future. The car is NOT a daily driver just a weekend car so how steep the gear is doesnt really matter. My main concern is I dont want to have to shift into 5th in the 1/4 mile. So what gear should I get?

4.10's or 4.56's and you should be ok. 4.56's maybe stretching it. in 4th @ 6500 rpm you would be going 111 mph maybe 4.30 would be tops @ 6500 rpm and im assuming you have a t-5 you would be going around 118mph. this is alll with a 26 inch tire. 4.10's in forth @ 6500rpm is 125mph.

I guess it depends if your gonna raise your rev limiter.
Like JayC I run 4.10's but I only run the 100shot cause I'm a big baby. with a 26" tire I have to hit 5th in the 1/4 in order not to hit the factory rev limiter.
Also Pretty sure Jay is talking about Beech Bend raceway in Bowling Green KY.

well, I have 4.56's in my mach...N/A I get real close the rev limiter in 4th and have trapped at 112mph many times...

I'm putting a 100 shot on over the winter and have a set of 275-60-15 drag radials for the track...so the taller tire should make up for the extra MPH i'm gonna get with the squeeze.

So for you, I'd say if you're bouncing off the limiter, just get a taller set of tires, its cheaper than switching to a higher gear(lower numerically)...also get some double adjustable uppers so you can adjust the pinion to the proper degree.

Thanks, I run at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green Ky. elev. is ~ +480'.
My best pass was with a DA of ~ 1400' on drag radials:D

Jay
I want to try racing my car closer to sea lvl and without a passenger and without my front sway bar. maybe even with some new adjustable shocks and struts.
