Nitto 555R -- vs -- T/A DR's in the rain

why dont you put regular ties on, like ones that are made to use in the rain. driving with dr's is stupid and wreckless. plus, its mot like you are running a huge amount of horsepower where you would need dr's for everyday use

Well, I really like the look of the Prostar rims and the way the tires fill the wheel well. :nice:

you don't have to have much power to spin through 2nd on a normal street radial..it can be dangerous not to have a drag radial. but yes, the 555R is better in the rain than the BFG.

I have had a set of Nittos on the 99 for over a year with 10K+ miles and they are great in the rain. just dont mat the throttle and they are pretty good under positive throttle and acceleration.I had BFGs on a fox body years ago and they didnt seem to hook like the Nittos. maybe I can drive better now but who knows.

Thanks for the replies, think I'll see if I can get some Nitto 555R's, won't fill the wheel well like the bfg's but sounds like they will let give me some peace of mind. :D and hook good too!!

Thanks

I think my BFG Drag radials are very good in the rain on my 82, even with 4.10 gears. Nearly any tire is going to break loose easily in the rain if you have power or gears. They seem nearly normal, and much better than the previous M/T Indy Profile tires, which had a full tread pattern.

Best rain tires I have ever had were the Michelin TRX's that were on 79 to 82 Mustangs.
