do nitto street tires run smaller then others? if so how much smaller? would it be noticable? i want 245/45/17's but if they run smaller i'll go with a different tire in 255's then for the same price if not 245's will do just fine trying to spend just around $115 a tire or so i did a search didn't find an answer thanx guys......... also what tire would you suggest besides nitto's that are a decent price and perform well?

i think they are normal sized. i know mine sure as heck look normal to me 
Yokahama makes a pretty decent tire and BFGs are a great tire as well. The Goodyear F1 looks cool, but i hear the tires catch small rocks and pebbles and throw them up and can damage the paint etc...
The Nittos are a great tire, i love them. The only downside to them so far is having to rotate them so often so i can get the most treadlife outta them as possible. I rotate mine every 3k miles

I have always heard that they ran small. Don't know why.
I have Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. 255/45/17 in front and 285/40/17 in back. They have been a great tire and are very reasonable. The fronts were less that $100! I have really liked them, but you have to consider your needs. Nitto is a great tire...no question about it. And the more agressive ones, would certainly out perform the Kumhos in a race.
My car is driven 99.999% on the street. I wanted a reasonably priced summer performance tire that worked great in the rain. And that's what I got. Also, I wanted the steam roller in the back, but was not ready for 315's. Kumho made the only 285 tire that I could find and I wanted something wider than a 275.

nitto 555's are fine but not so great in the rain. they do tend to run smaller but the stock size is perfect for your stock rims (assuming). the yokohama AVS es100's are good to for $125. heard many great things about the Hankook Ventus tires for around $100 as well. the bfg KDWS are great all season tire.

BFG KDWS has a neat tread pattern as well, they are just expensive. i was torn between those and the Nittos when i was getting tires last year, and the Nittos just seemed like a better tire and were cheaper as well. I havent had an problems in the rain w/ my Nittos, hella lot better than stock!

those are the ones i heard threw small rocks and pebbles up from the tire since they are so sticky. i heard they can damage the cars paint

The Kumhos have been quiet for me so far. I too heard that complaint. I have about 2,000 miles on them only and tires tend to get noisy as they wear.
I think the Yoko is a slight better tire, but is about 30% more costly. I might have tried the Yokos but there was no 285. The Kumhos are wonderful in the rain.
