I just finished putting a used rear end in my 1988 Mustang GT 5 speed. Thing is, it is a 7.5", not 8.8". I'm keepin' an eye out for a good 8.8". In the meantime, I have no idea how fast my car would run on the 1/4 mile. It is basically stock with the cats gutted and pollution control bypass. Not sure on the gearing in this rear end. Doesn't seem to be 3.73's (that's what was in my 8.8"). I'm guessin' about 3.27's or 3.55's. I know I can find this out by marking the driveshaft and turning the tires, I just haven't done it yet.

I figured I would be lucky to run a 15 flat. I would not be surprised if it was a mid 15 second car. However, when I dragged my friends modded 1990 GT that puts 303 HP to the rear wheels, I was slightly pullin' on him until I shifted to 3rd. Then he passed me pretty easy. We raced twice on the street with the same result. He had ****ty tires on at the time. He usually runs 13.5 on the 1/4 with his nittos on. Then, when I took a guy who owned a 2003 s2000 for a run in my car, he told me my car was about the same as his on the 1/4 mile (14.0 flat). I am almost positive my car is runnin' nowhere near low 14's. I will be satisfied if I am runnin' in the high 14's.

What do you guys think I am running? Let's just take a guess and say I have 3.55's in my rear end. I have 15 inch BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (not much better that stock). I guess the only way for me to tell is to go to the track in 2 weeks.

Its tough to tell a 14 sec. car from a 15 sec car by a seat of the pants feel. Take it to the track to find out for sure. And like IronMedic says take it easy on the rearend. Don't launch too hard.
