No Drill After Market Stereo Install?

I'm pretty sure this is a dumb question, but I couldn't seem to find a definitive answer searching the forums, and online, and the Crutchfield guy I talked with told me that their install kit required drilling holes in the console, which is something I do not want to do.

Is there a kit or a way to do an aftermarket install without drilling holes in the console?

You mean just to mount the head unit? I've never had to drill holes....

no holes to drill. Just buy a kit from best buy or crutchfield and it bolts up like factory

Yeh, I meant for installing a new head unit. I have one I took out of a car I sold last year with all of the basic features you'd want and I was thinking of installing it in my stang.

Here are links to the install offerings from LMR and Crutchfield. These both seem to require drilling holes and screwing them in, so I'm wondering if there's an option available that doesn't require screws?

From the comments above there are obviously some people who have done an install with no hole drilling, so I'm not sure what I'm missing?

Since the factory radio mounts with "spring" type clips on the side, there are no factory screws or bolts that hold it in. Most aftermarket head units mount with a cage and are somewhat narrower than the factory unit. Thus the reason that the aftermarket kits require 4 small holes to be drilled.

I quickly examined how I could mount mine without drilling holes. Although I'm sure it can be done, it would appear it would take some type of custom work that might take hours. I chose not to spend the time and just drill the holes, not a big deal for me.

I'm not aware of any kit out there that would allow you to mount the unit without the holes. Most of the kits I've seen are virtually the same.

I think that's what I needed to know.. Thanks..

Still not sure how some others claim to need no screws? That's what gave me hope, but no matter?

I'm pretty sure that I just pulled the factory stereo and installed the new one in its place. It's been about 6 years, so I'm a little foggy. I don't remember ever buying one of the install kits for either of the first two fox radio conversions. I'm going to be doing a third here in the next few weeks.

If you don't have holes in your console, def spend the time and energy on a no-drill setup.

I remember when i went back to an OEM stereo, i spent quite a bit of time filling, sanding and repainting that area to hide the holes.
