No Ford lock gas cap?

Well I seen that thread a few weeks ago about the lock gas cap and some people said they had a Ford motorsports lock gas cap. SO I called a dealership and the guy said he has been into ford racing for 20 something years and he has never heard of it. He also said that there is no ford motorsports anymore and that it merged into just Ford Racing back in 2000. Also said the catalog does not show it, nor does the motorcraft one.So where can I get the Ford one? Or if it really isnt out anymore, does autozone have a good one that will keep the pressure on the gas tank so my check gas cap alarm doesnt go off? Thanks.

Advanced Discount Auto Parts sells one that you can even use that plastic cap holder with.

I replaced mine for the same reason, the damn check engine light kept comming on, and was throwing that code associated with the gas cap.

I don't understand why Ford didn't put a locking gas cap on.

The last thing we need is people putting crap into our tank..

I bought mine from the dealership. I don't know why they said that?

Actually, it's a Ford Motorcraft product, not Ford Motorsports (which is now called Ford Racing Performance Parts). That might explain the confusion.

The locking cap is available on the web, but you should also be able to look up the part number on the motorcraft website.

I can't remember offhand where I ordered mine from, but I did find it on the web.

Ok thanks guys, I am going to fun ford and I want to have a lock down on my fuel system (chevy owners in disguise wearing the ford cap and all LOL...never know). I googled it and turned up nothing a few days ago, but ill check it out some more.

If this means anything, the Ford accesory catalog for the 2004 mustang had a locking gas cap in it. But I believe it said for thunderbirds. I don't know what the difference is in gas caps, but I figure there may be a reason why it's in the accesory catalog. ford accesories if that helps at all

Ok I went here http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com...r=4L5Z9030BA&oid=1777&sOldOid=1761&detail=yes and there is no locking gas cap for the stangs, ONLY the suvs and trucks and some freestyle or something which this is a pic of. Does anyone own one of these cars (expedition or explorer or escape or freestyle) and can you check to see if it has the same type of cap as your 99-04 stang?
