No heat WTF

Well here in nepa it finally dropped below 40 degrees last night. I was coming home and turned the heat on and it was cold the whole time the engine temp was reading in the middle. The heater core isnt bad because there are no leaks of coolant any where on the car. Im stumped i dunno what it could be i was thinking maybe the thermostat was stuck open but there would still be heat right? I need this problem fixed quick being this is my daily driver and its getting cold.

If you still have your original heater core (like I do) there is a good chance that years of corrosion are severely restricting the water passage through the core. You can try a flush, but most of what is out there seems to be little more than rubbing alcohol they are so mild. I ran the Ford flush for a few days and it finally cleaned the corrosion out enough to get a little hot water through the core. Feel the water line coming into the core and then feel the water line coming out of the core. If the "in" line is hot and the "out" line is cold it's probably clogged up. If the "out" line is warm you probably have another problem like some of the blend doors not working properly.

Or an even simpler thing might be that you're low on fluid in you're rad? Just check it.

That was my problem heater core was fine, thermostat was fine but no real heat to speak of......

Blend doors not sure of what they are. My radiator fluid is fine checked it hot and cold. Just cant under stand it. And if the water coming out is cold and the water in is hot wouldnt that give me heat or make the car overheat?

same problem here....replaced a leaking heater core last year and everything is working properly. heat works if its above 45 or so...but anything below that and its just cold. not sure if its just because the coolant isnt hot enough because of the 180 tstat and the flow restrictors in the lines to heater core or what.....im stumped

Hey man when you move the blue to red ie cool to warm you are opening ang closeing the damper door like on a furnace.Even with a 160 therm the coolant runnin through the core is hot enough after warm up.When you feel the tempt control knob feel for resistance if its to free then maybe the cable is bunched or not even connected??????My fan and controls werent even in the car and I could feel heat in the vent.Doing a interior swap.Hope this ponts you somewhere wew!!!!!poor typer man!!!!!

id try a fluch like said above.. probably clogged up
