I sold Mod-Fox to a friend of mine and I am thinking up of my next project.

Just noticed that Y2K Cobra R wheels are gone!!! 50resto, buyfordracing do not offer them anymore. Americanmuscle has them, but they are chrome and they look terrible. I don't think the spokes look right.

Anybody know when or why this happened?

Yeah, I guess so, Y2K is 11 years old now. Dammit. I loved those wheels because nobody had them.

My project passed me by yesterday, I didn't buy the car I was looking at. I bid, but let off because I really didn't think it was gonna be worth that much done for how much it needed. It was a 99 Cobra with 43K. Needed a door and the sheet metal front end parts. Not wrecked that bad. I just got scared that people would be afraid of the 99's since they had all the recalls. I didn't wanna have too much into a car I'd have trouble selling. (If it were a 2001, I would have stood there with my hand in the air til I owned it. lol)

IF I would have got it, the project was gonna be 99 Cobra, red, and I was gonna clone a 00 Cobra R. It needed the hood and cover anyways, so a splitter, spoiler and some wheels wouldn't have been too much money. I'm still on the hunt for anything tho....fox body, 99-04....doesn't matter, just something to make a grand or two off of.

FRPP has gotten rid of alot of stuff slowly .IMHO the quality of the Ford wheels is really good and thier chrome doesn't seem to flake like alot of aftermarket stuff. No more ponies, Pony R's ( atleast 4 lug ), 00R, some Focus wheels, etc, etc. even the M-3075-A lower arms are gone..Ford Racing M-3075-A - Ford Racing Front Lower Control Arm Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com, although they still can be found. same for the M-5500-A rear upper arms Ford Racing M-5500-A - Ford Racing Rear Upper Control Arms - Overview - SummitRacing.com. Ford Mustang Rear Upper Control Arms, solid axle, 1979-04 [M-5500] : Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader!.

Legally, a car company only needs to make parts for 10 years...so after 10 years, they are free to discontinue.

The Cobra R wheel is 11 years old now, so it makes sense.

The original Ford 1993 Cobra intake was discontinued in 2003..10 years later.

Eh, someone will make knockoffs i'm sure. I always liked the '98s better myself.

98 Cobra > 95 Cobra R > 00 Cobra R

As far as looks, I'd have to agree. I wish 98 Cobras were 17X9. 95 Cobra R's are awesome. 00 Cobra R's are cool and what I wanted for my project, but oh well. This sucks. I'll have to pick something else now.

The Y2K R's are a really nice wheel. It's a shame they're not available any more. If these weren't so road rashed I would have kept them on my '99. They looked great against the Rio Red.

Chris, that car looked badass. Road rash doesn't really bother me. If I could find a set even with some rash, I'd be happy. If you get the right tire it hides some of the rash. Plus, I sand them down with 150 or 320 on a DA, depending how bad. It might not get it all out, but it helps.

Damn that car looks good, lol, I keep looking at it. The chrome knock offs look like total crap, I'd never consider them.

You will see a banner at the top of Stangnet from Late Model Restoration for $969 Y2K's with tires shipped probably soon.

These never really looked good on a FOX imo. The pic of the red car above, that looks good, FOX no.

Reaaaally??? I'll have to watch out for it and buy them just to have them. I'll use em for an end table in my basement.

I agree, they do not look good on fox bodies, but my project was gonna be a 99 Cobra, which we all know Y2K's would be badass on.

You know what's the worst wheel ever???? 17" Y2K's!!!!! This guy that goes to all the car shows has a MINT yellow 98 Cobra convertible with a blower. But he has these 17" chrome Y2K's. The car looks stupid. Why spend 10K in mods for your car and cheap out on the wheels?

Good example right here. Chris' wife's car before they installed the bogarts. Even on a FOX coupe which just about every wheel looks good on couldn't be pulled off by Y2K's.

I agree, on a 99 model these rims will look great. Wasn't sure if that's exactly what your were installing them on.

Don't see them on LMS's website yet. You will notice they have rim & tire packages shipped for under $1K on just about all Mustang rims.

Yeah, they don't look right at all. I'll keep my eyes peeled. These will even look good on my red 04 for a change of pace here and there.
