Car feels like its missing. No power. At all. It feels like it is about to die, then it comes alive and shoves you into the back of the seat. Then it does it again and throws you into the steering wheel.

Replaced Plugs / Wires / Cap / Rotor / Swapped Coils.

Still does it.

No codes.

Any ideas?

Clean your MAF and IAC.

I had a similar problem, turned out after I had washed the engine some water had gotten into a cracked dizzy cap and was shorting some of the contacts in there. I guess you could check for moisture in there, won't cost nothin, just a hair drier for 20 minutes.

You probably have anyway, but disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and erase the computer so it has to relearn efi settings.

DOes this happen all the time? How is the idle anyways? If its just during driving you could have messed up an O2 sensor.

Idles fine, O2's are just barely a year old.

Take off from a stop and then I go nowhere.

Sometimes crusing down the highway it kicks out on me too.

No oil on the plugs, so I dont see that as the problem.

Anything in the distributor that would cause this that can be replaced?

I really dont feel like replacing O2's again, and not have that be the problem.

I have the same thing happening to my car. Feels like no power then all of a sudden it kicks in.
Scanned my car and came up with a fuel pump code for a bad ground.

From a dead stop it feels like a v6. If i keep on the gas it sometimes backfires. Then out of nowhere i feel something click and im off.

Most likely a bad ground.

If i were you i'd go ahead and replace the TFI module and PIP sensor since they're cheap at autozone. Most of them crap out at around 100K miles. TFI is the sensor underneath your airbox and the PIP is the sensor located in your distributor. It manages the firing order so if it goes bad, your firing order goes haywire and that would cause a jerking. To get to it, you have to take out your distributor and get the dizzy gear pressed off, replace the sensor, and reinstall.

well... fiveo'cobra... You get a cookie.

TFI module was the ticket. Pulled the one out of the 94 and threw it in, and then went

The car has NEVER felt this good, even when I bought it.

Had a similar problem and it was a bad MAF sensor. Cleaned it several times and same problem. No codes either. Bought a 77mm MAF and have not had any more problems like that.

I cleaned the maf as well while it was out... I popped the TFI apart, and I could see some stuff that was overheated in there.

the TFI module is the deal on the pass side fender apron beneath the air intake tube. Its black, and screwed onto an aluminium heat sink. It controls some aspect of the fuel injection system. The PIP is in the distributor, and I believe it controls the firing order.

TFI = Thin Film Ignition; It is used by the computer to control the timing of the spark based on RPMs and load

PIP = Profile Ignition Pickup (also known as the Hall Effect Sensor); It detects where in the cycle the engine is so that the computer can decide when to fire the spark plugs

Isn't the first time hearing the TFI go bad on a 94/95.. Seems they are the weakness as the balancers on these things.. Usually when they go bad, they just die and the car leaves you sit, such as on the highway.. I suppose they heat soak, and die.. Sometimes if you sit and wait for it to cool down, the engine will fire again.

yaa, someone needs to turbo that car!

What do you say

They used to go bad a whole lot more often in the 87-93 cars when they were in the dizzy with the PIP. In 1994, Ford moved it out because of all the problems with them overheating.

Oink, ALL cars should be turbo'd , but which one were you referring to here?

I say... sounds good to me.

The TFI in the 94 was already replaced at some point before Jess got it.

Mine was Ford OEM.

Damn... the car has NEVER felt this good.

I did not read this all, but if one has a no-start condition:
If only missing spark, the TFI, coil, etc are likely.

If missing spark AND injector pulsing, the PIP is where to look.

Good luck.
