No smog pump, Putting 2 cats on, will I pass emissions?

My car doesnt have a smog pump and has an offroad h-pipe but im going to cut out part of the h and clamp in a pair of new catco cats that i bought off of ebay just so I can take it through emissions here in virginia then weld the cutout peice of h back on, will I pass emissions? im also going to use seafoam and that guarenteed to pass emissions stuff before I take it to be tested.

There is one way to find out, try pass, if you doesn't you will lose money on on emission part and thats like 20-30 bucks
When i did inspection here in PA, guys told me about EGR and cats BUT nothing about smog pump

do they do a visual test?? if so, you'll fail because no AIR.

the AIR system supplies O2 to the cats to make them more effecient.

i've had people pass emissions w/o them and failed emissions w/o them. of course when i was doing the tests in CA they would fail for visual("if you can't piss on it then its missing and fails", Joey? at SPX training).

PS the only thing you gain by removing the AIR is 1 or 2 hp, some weight and a cleaner engine bay.

The cam is the only thing I see that could hold you up -- but really I don't see a problem. Try it!

Damn. I wish I had a hook up. I'm in MD and they do visuals. Oh well until I get a hookup I will just have to continue to swap the off road Hs to the stock cats for emissions. Good thing I do all the work on my car.

Is this the first time you've had to do inspection on this car?

I know when I got mine done at a friend's shop I was putting out 3x the legal limit of hydro carbons. Our cars even have a hard time passing in stock set up. My recommendation is find a friend like I did, or sneak somebody some cash. Good luck

In order for the catalyst within the converters to work (burn excess fuel) they require pure oxygen. Without it, you've got some exhaust plugs in your H-Pipe.

That's why the 2-stage factory H-Pipes have pure air going into two locations (at the exhaust ports for the first set of cats and down to the H-Pipe for the second pair).

You'd be better off to do the job right the first time. That's been my experience.

Where in MD are you? I had mine done about a month ago in Silver Spring, and he did not do a visual. Of course, I was legal then, but with the turbo going on, I have to delete the smog pump.

I was thinking about trying to rig up some sort of electric air pump or something to keep the cats going. I don't have the $$$ to replace the exhaust right now.
