According to this month's MM&FF, there will be 2 options for a mustang in 2005. A sub 20k V6 and a 25k+ V8 GT. No mention of a base V8 model. And, a wait on the 18 inch rims.

For once I agree with 351CJ on something. And I'll add my own sentiment:

Uhm... I don't believe the $20k V8 rumor anyway. However, I'm going to point out that listing only two models does not exclude a third. Murderers have gotten off on lesser technicalities, so I'd just like to state for the record that you're only inferring there is no $20k V8. Until such time as Bill Ford or some other CEO flatly states that there will be no $20k V8, there has been no official denial.

Also in the current issue of MM&FF, while doing the 3-way shootout between the Cobra, Mach 1, and 40th GT, they really slammed the STI vs SVT comparison, saying that even with Evan Smith missing a shift, he still ran a 13.1 in the Cobra, which is a sight faster than the 13.3 run by Hot Rod. Nice to see them taking a serious jab at some grandma drivers over there.

I'll take the other approach.

Until Bill Ford states that there absolutely will be an under $20K V8 AND the Ford dealers receive their order sheets with info. on how to order one, and someone gets their order accepted by Ford, there is NO under $20K V8.

You realize, of course, that MM&FF's info is old (info in monthly magazines is WAY old in the days of the Internet) and that they are in no way connected with Ford. They don't get information any sooner than anyone else and they don't have official pricing either. Also, no magazine is going to go out on a limb and say that there WILL be a 20k V8 because if they're wrong, not only will WE be pissed, but so will FORD for them advertising that.

You know, I absolutely quit buying Hot Rod, and the STI vs 2003 Cobra deal just solidifies that they are NOT Hot Rod people, but more like a psuedohipcaranddriver wannabe.

I have a subscription to MMFF and 5.0, and occasionally buy Car Craft, and that's because Car Craft has the balls to call the imports as they see 'em.

Please tell me you guys' didn't believe this B.S. of a V8 for under 20K....God....come on people, that would never happen with FORD...as much as I wouldn't mind that (hell none of us wouldn't mind that, I'm sure) it ain't never gonna happen....I am happy with 24-26K though....not too much of a leap over the current model

Don't shoot the messenger but, "At Job One, ONLY two models will be offered, the base V-6 and the 4.6 GT, and one body style, the coupe." That's a quote. They did say, thank God, that the GT will be within 100 pounds of the current model. Off the subject though, a buddy of mine won't shut up about the GTO and how it's intererior puts the GT's to shame. The GTO's intereior is definately nice but is it me or does the steering wheel on the GTO look like a headless fat guy doing jumping jacks. Must be me.

waay overpriced, but then again all cars are too expensive if you ask me. When I bought a brand new 95 Formula Firebird it barely broke 20k... three years later when I went looking them the prices were easily 27k...

Every year I get a small raise and every year my rent, utilities, insurance, gasoline, etc. creeps up. it's like i'm making the same money year after year, and the price of cars keeps increasing... it's pretty hopeless anymore.

to stay on topic though, a sub 20k mustang woulda been nice and probably would have flew off the lots, but with my experience if it's too good to be true then it probably is...

GTO...never saw one and unless I go to the US I never will either, they are not available in Canada (bast4rds) Don't care anyway, don't want one either.

I doubt there will be a sub $20 V8 as well.

Yeah, but I have to admit the Magnum doesn't do it justice...it's a damn Volvo Wagon with a HEMI....nah ain't for me.

--However, the 300C does look pretty cool, saw it at Barret Jackson up close, very cool car :tu:

Tell you buddy that for the extra $8,000 or whatever you'll pay for a GTO verses and 05 Mustang GT, GM should be including solid gold switches & buttons in the GTO interior.
