noisy T5

it usually quiet(normal noises..) but if I go on the highway for approx 10 min coma back home , put it in neutral, and listen, it will make some "clacking" noises.. and if I press the clutch pedal, the noise will stop?

Anybody have an idea of what could it be?

It shift weird when cold, better when hot..

could it be a dead clutch?

I had the same problem. I thought the tranny was messed up but my dad told me that when the clutch is out and in neutral, the internals of the tranny are moving back and forth so youre hearing the slack in it moving around. I also heard it in a pretty loud 5.0. So his must have been louder than ours if I could hear it over his exhaust.
