Non-Turbo 2.3 question.

Your cats are more than likely plugged but most of ours are like that mine is a 93 and I know that both of mine are full but Ihave not gotten to gutting them yet. You need a tune up really bad man for a start. You may have a vaccume line unplugged too.

how does it idle?

will the engine turn 6000rpm in neutral?

does it run funny when you accelerate?

any noises?

has your mother ever sighted a UFO?

does it start easily?
It idles smooth.
yes, easily.
Just sluggish.
Yes, "Vroooom"
I don't know, but she's not the type to admit it if she did.
Yes, it starts great.

I know I may be off on this one but it the car is a auto I would say transmession problems. If it was me I would check the fluid level first.

**warning if its a stick disregard this and buy a new cat and delete the pre cat**

So what you're saying is that actually 60 MPH is pushing it, and it takes a long time to get there. It feels like it's being held back. Do ya think maybe a plugged converter?
Ya know, if people like you would pull there head out of their ---, They wouldn't be such a smart ---!

Yes, it's an automatic, the fluid level is fine and looks and smells new. But I have to admit, if ya play with the trans., and get the RPMs up before letting it shift, it does do alot better.

Can you personally pull the cats off and take a look at them. I am meaning tool wise and location.

A muffler shop and drill a small hole before the cat and check for something to indecate its good/bad. But really a 10 year old car probly needs a new one :D

I'm not sure I would call anyone a smart $$ since that would be little the kettle calling the pot black. But I know if I did it would be Red :D

Ummmm.... ummm....

Does your car diseal real bad once it gets that high? Like detonates on you around 60mph?

Second theory...Try putting the gear shift in 3 gear and no over drive OD. Get her out on a open road like a high way and see if it gets to 60+ better in just 3 gear. Once shes there then put her in OD and see what she does. I'm sure you probly need a new Cat but I really just think its a transmession problem my self.

yea i had the same problem a while back ago, but mine wouldn't even rev over 2500rpms even in nuetral. yours is probably a combo of a few things if 60 is pushing it. does it rev to at least 4000rpms with the pedal mashed to the floor in gear?
oh yea, and SWINNY, if your 7th post on stangnet is dissin' red, then dont expect any help from anyone here, stangers tend to stick together. :flag:
