Not impressed with new PI part.

After some research and talking with the guy with 4.30's (Green4.6GT)in this thread. I've decided to go with a few changes. If you can offer some advice on rather this sounds good or not tell me before I head to the bank this afternoon.

Spark plugs, going with copper not platinum (as suggested by Green4.6GT) splitfire if i can find them if not than just some brand name copper plug. Maybe NGK?

For ignition wires I was going to go with a 9mm or bigger wire, brand name. Maybe MSD?

For now I think I'm just going to clean the stock airfilter until I get a new CAI, I think I'll go with the K&N FIPK II i think its called? Only one that improves HP ratins from what I hear correct?

Going to change the fuel filter soon, I think its either that or the TB causing the hesitation I get sometimes. Going to change the engine oil out with some Mobil 1 synthetic 3w-50.

Also going to a transmission shop today to ask some questions about how the gears is going to affect the tranny stress wise, I may get a shift kit... any ideas on price/cost/purpose there.

Yes when I got my car back from the shop the mechanic guy that changed the intake manifold said that there was alot of coolant in the plug holes and he dried it out and put, platinums in, so I guess i'll just hang onto the brand new ones he put in it because from what i hear our cras run better on copper.

any advice, suggestions. I think i fear the 4.30, i may go with 4.10, going to do some research first.

thanks, tuend.

1)You may as well keep your stock plugs, just check to see how good a job your mechanic did when he cleaned out the holes, it would take very little antifreeze down there to make your car run bad

2)Bigger wires won't gain you anything

3) Don't use 5-50 oil

The Pi intake hangs waay down in the valley of the engine, where as the non-PI doesn't hang down very low [not as deep] If you still have your old intake, just take it out to your car and compare the two.

Sorry, guess I got it backwards.... but I knew they weren't the same height.

Yes, the mechanic said he had to put high temp RTV around the front right coolant passage. Also the mechanic had to use a modified alternator bracket as well, that came with the package.

Okay so, I need to go with 5w-20 (I’m in Florida, not much temp difference year round here), get the K&N FIPK II, get some stock size brand name ignition wires, new copper plugs (while making sure injectors are cleaned well), and I’m pretty sure I don’t need to flush the radiator because I’m guessing that had to be done during the intake change, right? I’m going to have the transmission looked at soon, maybe a shift kit with the new gears, but it will be serviced soon. I’m going to change all the filters soon as well.

Any suggestions on some new rubber, I’ll get them after the gears but I want something that will hook up well. It needs to be a low profile that fits the 17” rims that I think came stock on the 98 GT’s.

Also, is Dr. Gas X pipe with 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters going to be a good performance/sound upgrade? Any suggestions on better mufflers? I don’t want it to sound like **** and I don’t want to sound NASCAR style either.

Thanks, tuned.

Nitto 555's are cheap and provide excellent traction.

X pipes always give raspy sounds as H pipes give it the old muscle car sound. Dr Gas for the X, Mac offroad H for the H choice.

flowmaster are so overrated and they sound like crap, get get some magnaflows if you chose just mufflers.

Best tires for florida: BFG G-Force TA K/D

They have the best traction of any tire, but keep in mind they are not so great in the rain. And another downside is they dont last as long as most tires, because they are so soft. But sticky? These things should be like glue :)

Flowmasters won't give you any power. Get a straight threw design muffler like Magnaflow or the louder magnapacks. Chambered mufflers don't make any power. I had flowmasters and changed to Magnaflow catback and gained 10rwhp.

first off he said he dosnt want it to sound like a nascar, magna packs are LOUD... second, you went from the stock catback with weld in flows to an aftermarket catback.. obviusly youre going to gain power.. but if you just welded in magnaflows i doubt you you would get any gain at all..

I don't think they are that loud. But then I don't have an off road mid pipe. A friend of mine out in Florida runs flows with an off road pipe and her car is very loud. Mine only gets loud if I'm really on it but at idle and cruising speed it's not bad at all.
