just a side note, it is funny to hear people talk about MM and Steeda and so on like there can be no other. do you really think a prefabbed SFC can be that much better than one made to fit???
Yes please share the tube structure and dimensions...and I'd really like to understand how they are longer...mine run completely from front to back - any longer and they'd have nothing else to attach to...?I will have to get some pictures of the one's I had made for my car. they are twice the thickness of MM and longer. I think you would be served well to have them custom made as long as he is using good material. Yes you can use them for jacking rails.
I weld on speedboats in my free time for Donzi. I am certified in TIG, MIG, ARC, and Submerged ARC welding. The engine braces I put together hold down engines making about 1500HP each, that run at 6,500rpm for hours on end at WOT. So I have some experience. A self taught back yard welder with a sears flux welder can't do it in 30min. It would take about an hour using a 115amp welder.
However, a good shop will have AT LEAST a 300 amp MIG setup that, on a bad day, can lay a bead FULL LENGTH of both braces in 30 minutes. Your 8 tabs have under 5 feet of total weld. Thats a minute for every inch. Even a first timer should weld faster than that.
So again, Sub frame connectors can be done by a good welder (with a good welder) in under 30 min.
You do realize you stiffened and braced the chassis while it was RACKED right?he did do it on his back cause his lift was a body lift..not drive on. that must of required some more time as well
thats a hell of a resume in the welding field you got there. idk whats the deal tho, the shop that did mine didnt "slack" and the entire job took em just over 2 hours. incl. painting, preping, welding, and than touching up the welds. on another note tho, he did do it on his back cause his lift was a body lift..not drive on. that must of required some more time as well

Killy, i think he meant the guy didn't use the body lift and instead had to lay on his back, hence why it took longer.
I'm a poor guy. But I like to think if I'm going to mod my car, I'll spend a little extra on assurance, even if I have to wait, especially in the low hundreds of dollars range. MM is a tried and true design. You don't know about the shop. If it was literally nothing more than two square pieces of slightly bent metal then I would do it, but it is a little more than that. It very well could be good stuff, but you would never really know most likely.
