noticable smoke from one tailpipe?

just rebuilt a 89 302 with E cam, ported E7s explorer intake and Tb
runs kinda rough but stays running.set timing to 14. i get smoke from the pass side tailpipe. smells rich any ideas?

Also i cant get a reading on my TPS. i get low power from the orange wire but no power from the green wire.

what color is the smoke. If the motor is freshly rebuilt then its common for it to smoke a little while the rings seat.

smoke looks grey\white, but out mostly 1 pipe?

H-pipe or X pipe? Take a look at the plugs on the side that's smoking and see if a particular cylinder looks like it's having a problem.

To measure TPS voltage you should have your DVM set up to read between the black and the green wires - you should see about .9V with the throttle closed and the engine warm but not running, ignition on. As you slowly open the throttle the voltage should smoothly climb into the 4.5-5V range at w.o.t.

Measuring between the orange and black wires should show system voltage - around 5.0V.

Have you pulled the diagnostic codes?

H pipe, im sayin im gettin no power at the green wire. havent pulled plugs yet
KOEO were. 51,53,35 and 67

ok i pulled the plugs drivers side are a dry black soot smells very rich.
pass side black wet soot smells very rich.

ill take the one way conversation to the top...well changed tps still no signal there, O2s, plugs @ .50, timing at 10*, MAP.
i guess ill try a mass air conversion
