The 2 seat T-Bird looks OK to me, but it could have been a lot better.
There were 2 problems with the 2 seat T-Bird
1. It's impossible for anyone over 5'8" tall to fit in it.
2. Price, too expensive to start with and dealer markups killed it.

Sounds to me like there's no longer a shortage of GTs. Around me most dealers now have at least 2 GTs in stock with one dealer having a dozen of them. Among the dealers I checked I found over 30 GTs. That's a big change from 3 months ago when out of 20 dealers I found only 4 of GTs in stock.

Hmmm... where do you live 351CJ? I know that around here (Seattle, WA), GTs are still a rather rare commodity.

I suppose if sales continue to slide, they'll have to start making deals to move 'em. It's a great car, so that's certainly not the problem!

Hadda70Mach1, where are you located at? I find it hard to believe that a dealership couldn't arrange a testdrive for you. Hell, if you're near me, I'd be happy to let you testdrive mine.

Those of you still looking currently, and at a dealer with plenty on the lot, remind them that anything two months or older is eating away at their floorplan expense. Remind them that Ford Motor Co has put the fire under their feet and every Mustang sale is worth CASH to them right now. Remind them that Ford and Chevy are in a leadership race and they need to do whatever they ****ing can to win.

PS Sales are down
Projected total FoMoCo sales for this year, 2,848,017. Down from last year, 3,047,962

I just wanted to add my comments on what happened to me. I had my '06 Mustang GT ordered back in late July. Everything was going as promised. The day before my salesman called to tell me I could come down and purchase my car, my corporate headquarters released a press release stating that they had lost a federal tax court ruling and they owe the IRS 1 billion dollars in taxes due to a sale of two subsidiaries. They knew this was looming.
Their lawyers had convinced the stockholders that they would win their case.

The company's stock plunged and layoffs started the following week. Not knowing my future, I showed up at the dealer the next day with a lump in my throat and said goodbye to my car that I had dreamed about.

I don't blame Republicans or Democratics or the price of gas. I blame corporate greed. I'm still employed with this company but I'm looking over my shoulder everyday to see if a pink slip is tagged on my back.

well in the Northeast you might see a dealer or two that might have a GT in Stock,but they are getting MSRP or over.In the south you can find GTs with no problems...But why would anyone order a 2006 GT now???When you can order a 2007 in March?JT

No, I don't work for Ford. I work for a large newspaper and broadcasting conglamorate. The US auto industry isn't the only ones having financial trouble. Ad revenue for print and broadcasting have been flat or have declined in the 3rd quarter of this year.

This thread was the decline of November sales figures for Ford for this year and I was hoping my input would reflect that things ain't as rosey in the media business either. With all of the TV commercials you see on TV, you would think somebody's making money out there?

Well I am sure maybe there where maybe around 10,000-20,000 GTs that were made....
You only see V6s on lots and hardly ang Gts ever.JT

Not trying to advocate this sale at all, but I think that right now with the market slow dealerships are gonna sell cars at or below sticker.
I bought my 06 over a month ago.
One of the dealerships I had went to just called me and said they have 05 roush's for sale. One in particular is the Roush 05 Screaming Yellow coupe. He said if I was interested or knew anyone interested it was going out the door for 30,000. Anyone want a Roush for 30 G's?
I know this side (central Texas) is stacking up on Mustangs so this would be a good place to search for a good deal.
Just my 2 cents worth!!!

Ford sales reporting system, aka DID. And yes, the 04 includes 05MY, these numbers are calendar year, not model year sales. This is total sales, including retail and fleet.

Sorry for the delayed response, I've been out of town. I'm in northeast Ohio. As you suggested, I was surprised my local dealer didn't find a Mustang GT for me to drive. My experience in sales has been that you do what you have to do.

I see on the Ford site my local dealer is supposed to have a GT in stock. They have not called me (as I would expect a salesperson to do), so I'll give them a call.

Don't mean to butt in here, but I just bought a 2006 GT convertible (automatic) for $3,000 under MSRP. It can be done, but timing is everything. I got mine the day after Christmas and was not picky about the color. When I looked at one last Summer it was full MSRP plus $7,000 markup. No way was I going to pay that! Good thing I waited!

Great deal!

I heard Ford put some dealer cash on the Mustang at the end of December try to move more of them. I haven't heard if the dealer cash extends into January. Dealer cash is much better than a rebate because you don't pay sales tax on it.

Where are you located?
Did your dealer have many Mustangs on their lot?

Mustang sales for December 05 were down 23% from December 04 (10,223 in 05 vs 13,342 in 04).

For the calander year 2005 Mustang sales were 160,975. Although 2005 was the best year for Mustang sales since 2001, things aren't all that rosy.

Sales for the S197 Mustang have not been good for the last 6 months. In the 6 months from July - Dec 05 only 64,964 Mustangs were sold which is an annual sales rate of 129,928. That is lower than the annual sales of SN95 for any of the years that SN95 was in production for the full year.

When it was new, the old SN95 Mustang out sold the new S197 selling 166,915 in 1999, 173,676 in 2000 and 169,198 in 2001.

Good to hear. Some of us are waiting to buy a Stang without the ridiculous markups. I probably won't buy a Stang until Christmas '06 but hopefully by then, sales have decreased even more and I can get a good deal.
