You really barked up the wrong tree with that comment! The gentlemen in question has owned several foxes, both modified. The first one he had ran low 14's with pullies, advanced timing, mid-pipe, and 250k on the clock. His other fox, an LX, had Trick Flow HCI, and every imaginable bolt on. His "other" car was a 6 speed BPU++ Supra, that enjoyed a steady diet of race gas. He currently owns another Supra, which sports a fat turbo and water/meth injection. He has also owned a GSXR 750. 15 second time slips....

His point was what is there to prove if the car is proven fast, time slip wize.

I think the track are not open enough and plans are to close PR in the future.

What's there to prove? The street is for the atmosphere, and rush. That "outlaw" fealing. Knowing that you belong to a group of friends who dont need a time slip to bragg.

Dont get me wrong I love them both, but they both have differnet meanings.

To be Frank, I enjoy a good challenge on the street. I love to be "suprised" and I enjoy being the "supriser". Grant, I usually pick my spots, and I probably will continue this mode till I cant drive anymore. The track is certainly a safer and lesser of any evils then being on the road. But good ole American Ego can be tempted if the situation is right, and I fall into this catagory.

I have nothing to prove on the street. I dont' really care if i win or lose. If I cared that much or had tons of pride in my car it would take out all the fun. I just like some friendly fun. IN THE RIGHT AREAS. Don't think I am going to be in a 40 mph zone and stomp on it hell at 35mph in 5 seconds of WOT the car will be doing like 110mph+. Yeah not cool. But if your on a freeway and there is nobody on it in front of you. The risk is just your life. Just like you risk your life at the track, swimming, sports, flu shot, etc. Hell more people die from teh flue shot than street racing.

I prefer not to have teh fastest car around because then i'll be the target.

Plus a lot of it is just the scene. There aren't many hangouts where groups of fast cars hang out anymore. Years ago there were tons! The only ones i know of are you guys. And i guess there is a bunch of guys that hang out by the vancouver mall late at night. Which is a bunch of young kids. OUt of 60 cars a 13 sec was the fastest when i went.

Plus I hear this talk about street racing is bad. Yet when i am racing 80% of the time. it's on a dead end no option to turn on or turn off road. So nobody can pull up in front of you so there's no risk for outsiders. Yet in the city the same people who say that's dangerous do huge cookies, burn outs in parking lots in broad day light or fish tail their cars around in corners. Sometimes going out of control.

MoJo, he wants more people that have fast cars to hang out and also use their power on the street. Same perspective as you've got basically.
It's funny how a person will mention "street racing" and they get bashed on when most of the guys on this site have (and will in the future) run a fellow car enthusiast on the street. If this is not the case it would not be necessary to buy a performance car like a Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Supra, WRX, or whatever else. Everyone would just be driving their hybrids around and car manufacturers would not be putting the time or money into building cars that perform on the street.

I don't see PR closing it is the only place the big boys come to out here.. Only way to close PR is to open another better facility, and with the $$ they just dropped on the new surface that does not make much sense. Plus they got the MX track etc...

you left out bmw jon ;~] when talking about a sports cars. and way back when , when i was in highschool i kinda sorts ran a street racing thing just cuz i showed up alot and knew all the spots. and while me and a friend ran the show till i went to the army we had 0 arest and 0 deaths we did have some fender benders from stupidity but all in all it was well put together then me and my buddy left me to the army and him to UTI and when we got back it fell aprat. now the street races in kent are a different story very un organized when i was up there and wanted no part of there racing but they had some of the best car show type hang out where there would be over 100 cars any weekend night there was one night where i counted 463 cars there had met up there very cool go to ride in my first skyline there it was only an r32 but it was still a skyline.

Ya, I am all for it I might have the slowest over built car at the track, but there is always a chance of making it up on the street.

I was just happy to see a thread on stangnet finally have more replies than I have finger and toes. I never get to stir the pot, I am always getting served!!! All in good fun, Track, Street or on the bench count me in!!:SNSign:

Jon, I am always "holding it down" but since I am in Newport I am the lone looser, you know how many people down here say, Is that a turbo, and I say yes the other one is for looks!

hey i agree that street racing is stupid but if im rollin down the free way in the notch and a punk in a honda is trying to race me,thinkin he can smoke me then hes got another thing coming to him.but other than that i go to the track all the time or when ever i can

I fall into this category too, but not if there pedestrians or other traffic around. And never in residential area.

I see everyones point on here, and as much as it is illeagal i think it's the rush of it being that? Like some else said on here i can bet that everyone has went into a challange on the street one time or another, i know i have several times, weather it was the stang or something else you have had in the past. As for the mall thing over here in vancouer, i was thinking of stoping in there last year also.But when i was like 16-19 back east (ohio) we to went out at like 9P.M like at S/B sat there bs'd and then around midnight everyone pulled out and went to the buisness park and it was on! Every summer every weekend sometimes till 5/6 A.M see only one wreak at the time due to this stupid ass not running with lights/drunk/rookie/couldnt handle the car, but still it was nothing major. I didnt have a fast car then to race but it was still fun just to watch. There was a couple of times the cops came all we did was sit there waited for them to leave and go about our buisness. There was this guy named howard he just got done putting together a simi pro stock car $100,000.00+ car we went to 1 of the 2 spots we ran at unloaded it did the burn out ran wow! shut down sat and waited for the brother to show up with the truck and trailer then bam, cops showed up inpounded the car took him to jail. In the process of the tow truck hooking up his brother pulls up and howard said WTF! Brother say's i thought you were going to the other turn off? Anyways would be kinda cool to see some good ole street grudge again. When i had my 240sx se here i was told about a place there in gresham off I-84 they race at night? True? And then the normal here on L.R.R. So but yes i do take most of it to the track and i am there quite a bit my first year i was there every weekend running, but has slowly dwindled down. Next year will be there alot cause the 80 will be done and hopefully on 2 wheels alot peace

I hear that Bro, I would never a plan a street race, but a seat of the pants, feeling lucky judgment call sometimes cant be avoided Also I got pulled over at one of are local meetings a few weeks ago for having a little fun in the parking lot nothing serious, and the police officer let me go and said "I CANT SAY I I'VE NEVER DONE THAT" What a kool down to earth cop

A buddy of mine is in charge of the demolition of some property (I wont say where) but it is 40 acres with lots of roads and a few parking lots. Needless to say we have a LOT of fun out there with our cars, knowing the cops can't really do anything about it, or know. It is a lot more fun doing stuff like cookies without knowing you could be caught. I've perfected my figure 8 burnout out there recently. ( I've also dropped probably 5,000 miles off my tires out there). Tons of fun!
