O/R H-Pipe Install...

I installed my O/R H-pipe today...I saw a post last week that it takes about 20 minutes...lol...it took me about 3 hours just to get the old ones off...all in all it took me about 5 hours..this is my first time ever doing anything like this to a car so I think I did a pretty damn good job IMHO...I have one question though...One of the bolts to the header came off and I cannot get it off the old flange...is there a place to buy one of these, or can I just go to the hardware store and pick one up? It is only held on there by one right now so and I do not want to leave it like that. Thanks.

Edit: I have Flowmasters and the o/r h-pipe, is it usual for it to pop when revving the engine? It sounds really good, just wondering if the pop is normal...

i wanna get one of these soon. which did you get? bbk, mac? how many cats? i was under my car the other day and saw that i had 4 freakin cats!!! trying to find some headers and an offroad x/h that'll go w/ my flowmasters.

I ordered a BBK O/R H-pipe off of Jegs.com for like $160...No cats are on offroad h-pipes...they have catted h-pipes but I don't have emissions testing and they are more expensive. It sounds damn good...I like my Mustang even more now. Just a pain to get the bolts connected to the headers off...If you install them yourself make sure to get a 10 inch socket extension...found that out almost too late...

header bolts are a pita:fuss: . i can get a socket on maybe two of the bolts on each side. might be because my headers are single flange:shrug: i think next time i have to take my headers off i will get some allen key bolts.

My stock headers were so rusted at the flange to the H-pipe that my bolts sheared off. I was able to FINALLY get them out after several hours, and just used a smaller diameter grade 8 bolt and nut, passed through the header flange, and tightened up the H (actually X now). It's a PITA, but it works, so I'm happy with it.

3 hours isn't bad... when I was taking off mine it took me 2 weeks before i finally decided to jsut put enough leverage to snap the studs on the header, then it took another week to drill 3 3/8" holes and one 1/4" hole to throughbolt the h-pipe on....

when i went to my o/r pipe i did headers at the same time jsut to get rid of the loose bolts...

Popping is normal... so how do you like it?

It is fantastic...I don't know if it is just the sound but it seems to me like it just wants to get up and go now...I still have some things to fix...it is hanging a little low and I am going to try push it up closer to the frame. Had to get to work so I couldn't get it exactly the way I wanted it...plus I need to get a new header bolt because I unscrewed it when taking the old one off. But I love the sound...it just sounds mean...

My Prochamber and flows has a pop to it when rev'ed up, nothing I ever worried about. I know what you mean about the sound, it makes you want to stick it to the floor every time you turn a corner. BTW, those header bolts are a PITA. Mine backed out of the header as well, and it was a real pain to get off of the flange. Because I didn't have any other bolts, I just kept working on it untill I got it to come off, then reinstalled it.

Is the bolt still off? If so, I would guess that is the source of your pop. Make sure you try plenty of PB when getting those off, they can be a pain.

You should be able to find something comparable at any hardware or car parts store if that bolt is not useable once you get it out.
