Have you ever changed the fluid like the other post said? Fluid is not supposed to be brown. Change that and the filter to see if you can save anything. 160k on that tranny with the original fluid...the thing is probably toast.
Yes it does have a lockup converter, but weather it has a TV cable or not, I have no clue.
I heard a rumor that changing the fluid on a transmission that is overdue for a change does more harm than it does good. I'm sure some of you guys have heard this too. Is there any truth to this?
