octane

My $.2. I would do what the dealer says to do AND record Names and Dates of all your transactions with them. Then when your motor blows with 85 octane, you will be able to prove what you have done to protect your stang. Nothing is worse than haveing to pay for (out of your pocket) any damage done to a vehicle that is still under warranty.

well, my bro has had an 00 gt and now has an 03 cobra, and he says he is 100% sure it is the heater motor blower or whatever drives the heater a/c. His wife heard the sound and she recognized it right away. So I guess I'll take their word, it does kinda sound like air. And they way it stops sometimes makes sounds like a vacuum. Like if you suck air through your lips and then slowly close them. It is better than the dealerships theory of lowering the octane to reduce pinging. haha. I don't think I'll be putting 85 octane in it. Thanks for all your help. Either way, sounds better than my old sentra ser.

go heels is/was your car under warranty? If it is under warranty, is that all they'll do. Detune it. What about them standing behind their product. My car definately makes the noise at all temperatures, but it does more often and a little louder in the morning and night. Does it soud like a sucking noise and it comes and goes. And sometimes right in the middle of making the noise it just abruptly stops making the noise, as if something shut off. If it were pinging I think it would be more consistent??? Even in the cold weather it is still pretty sporadic. I had an explorer that pinged and it sounded more like a rattling sound.

My car has 28,000 miles on it..but that doesn't matter it's a 2000..so it's out of warranty. The sound will stop if I apply more throttle, like I said it only does it under light throttle and when it's cold outside. I used to run 93 octane all the time, then the dealership re-prgrammed my computer "they called it an update" now when I put 93 in it it cuts off...whenever you press the clutch in and it runs like $hit. So, I use 89 octane..I would like to get a good performance tune done. Does anyone in here know anything about Modular Madness in Mooresville, NC. It looks like they'll do a dyno-tune.

The k/n thing happens when idiots over oil the filter. So don't bother buying the cleaner kit and waste your time reoiling. They are good for like 30k, hell just buy a new one. They only cost about two tanks of gas. Seems worth it to me.
