My $.2. I would do what the dealer says to do AND record Names and Dates of all your transactions with them. Then when your motor blows with 85 octane, you will be able to prove what you have done to protect your stang. Nothing is worse than haveing to pay for (out of your pocket) any damage done to a vehicle that is still under warranty.
I guess our cars were made to run on regular (87) because of timing and whatnot. I have heard arguments on both sides so I just use nothing but Shell mid-grade.
