Odd clutch pedal feel

In the last few days I have noticed what I think is something unusual with the clutch pedal. There is a mildly notchy feeling to the clutch pedal at the lower 1/2 to 1/3 of travel. Almost feels like a wratchet feeling. It is more noticable pushing the clutch in, but also when releasing it. When the engine is off the travel is completely smooth. The car sat without moving for almost 6 months and has only been driven about 300 miles in the last 3 weeks. Any ideas of what it could be?

This is normal. Most likely some wear on the clutch throwout bearing shaft where the bearing travels upon. Since it has been sitting, probably either some light rust that formed over the shaft or the throwout bearing grease has settles, making the bearing more stiffer. You will notice this with a more worn out bearing over time. If you rev the engine idle up more while pressing the clutch in and out, i'm betting you will feel this "ratchet" feeling a lot more like it's rubbing over some very small bumps. Again.. just normal bearing wear. If this keeps up or the clutch gets too difficult, you can try pulling the clutch cover where the cable attaches to the fork, and spraying some grease up inside the transmission onto the bearing where the clutch sits directly onto the shaft. You can see it by removing that small aluminum cover over the fork.

Thanks for the response. When I can get the time I will try getting a look and seeing what is going on. I was questioning if it had something to do with the clutch throwout bearing. Hopefully the weather here on Long Island gets warm enough soon to check it out further.

Just a FYI: Frequent self adjustment to the clutch can be made by grabbing it with your hands or put your foot under it and pull upwards till it stops. Depress it. Repeat. This is how ford recommends adjustment to clutch cable.
