Odometer stopped working

I noticed the odometer and trip meter on my 97 GT stopped working this week. The speedometer still works fine, but the odometer is now stuck at 175,710 miles.

It seems this is a common problem, but not many people know how to fix it themselves. Can anyone tell me what parts I need to buy and where to buy them? I've seen different versions, some saying I need a 'motor' and others saying I need 2 gears.

I'm confident I can do the work on my own. I switched the speedometer in my 88 from 85mph to 140mph and even reset the new one to read the correct mileage.

Yep, that's almost certainly what you need. You can get a new gear from the site in that thread too: OdometerGears.com

They also have em at late model resto,both gears for 38 bux plus shipping

dont just get the one gear,get both.

I just got done doing this and now my odometer and trip work perfect.

it only takes like a half hour to do.
