Hey all. I'm looking to get an Eleanor-style hood for my '08 GT (Cervini's calls it the "C-Series" hood), but I can't believe the prices that I'm being quoted for the paint job. My car is candy apple red; they said it would be an extra $400.00 to have them paint the hood. I'm thinking about just buying it unpainted and finding someone to paint it at least a little more cheaply, but I'm curious as to what your experience has been with this. Does anyone know of a company that sells OEM painted hoods at a reasonable price?

$400 doesn't seem like a bad price to me. Between the cost of the paint and labour rates you don't get much done for $400 anymore. One benefit of getting it done locally though is you have someone to go to if the colour match or prep work is poor. Also there is less risk in damaging the paint in transit. I don't know about your red, but some of the older ford reds ('95 t-bird for ex) is actually a 2 stage base coat. The first stage is a salmon pink color followed by a metallic red and then clearcoat vs just a base/clear for other colors. Multi-stage bases can increase the cost.

Cervini's C- hood is the best on the market as far as quality fiberglass workmanship and fit.
But it does come with a couple spots on the underside along the seems that you might want to have your body shop fill in and finish.
But if you don't care about what the underside looks like it really doesn't matter.
