Offbeat project: 1966 Coupe

I am not going to start a build log here(since I already have one over on the vintage mustang forums), but thought I would show what I am working on these days:










Its a 2012 Mustang V6...chosen because it fits between the stock shock towers, makes more power and torque than the 289(even a HiPo version), gets 30mpg, and most importantly weighs 200lbs less....scratch that...the most important reason is because its fun...everything has to be fabbed it seems...oil pan, headers, etc.

Yes, its the 3.7L, only has 15k on the clock though

Current plans are as follows:

Equal length long-tube headers(Just finishing up the back half of these now(talk about difficult to get in and out of the car with the engine bolted down)),the exhaust will consist of no cats, with an X-pipe....mufflers and/or resonators to be determined.
On the intake side I am replacing the stock intake manifold with 6 ITBs from a BMW M3 v8(adapter plates are in-progress now, but port shapes are very close indeed)..I will be fabbing some type of custom dual-entry airbox for it eventually, but initially it will just be air horns with individual filters

My goal initially is to hit 300WHP(345flywheel) which means I need to gain 40HP and really only have the ITBs, the exhaust, and a custom tune to work with to get there...quite possible, but challenging. If I fail to hit that number...I have my backup plan(or maybe just the eventual plan anyway)...which is a couple of remote-mounted Aerocharger turbos(self contained oil supply and VNT makes them the best choice for remote-mount) and run 10-12psi with them. I have designed everything with the option of adding a remote-mount turbo system at a later date if I feel I need it....far better weight distribution than front mount...I don't mind any added lag

300HP will be enough to hit high 12s in the 1/4 in a 2500lb car(if not lower) and honestly, I don't see myself needing more than that for a street build, I don't plan on racing the thing other than maybe just a few times to get a baseline
