Hammerhead said:Had mine fixed and the difference is incredible. No more 1-2 grind and it goes into 3rd with no problems, and even downshifts great. The difference is like night and day. I didn’t know how bad it shifted before until they fixed it. I have only 2400 miles on my Mach 1 and the ticket said they found worn syncros! They used some of the new part numbers and a few additional parts as well. They didn’t argue when I took it in and they said they knew exactly what the problem was. They were an SVT dealer so I figure they were used to fixing the problem. When I called Ford the woman said she knew what I was talking about because her father had the same problem with his car. She told me to take it to an SVT dealer because their Techs are required to have a higher level of certification. (I don’t know if this is true but my first dealer was as about as useful as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.) She recommended the dealer I took it to. I’m happy so far I just hope it lasts. I can post a scan of my service ticket with the work that was done and the part numbers if anyone is interested.
Hammerhead said:OK here's a scan of my service invoice. I hope this helps. Also there is someone on the Mach 1 registry posted a scan of his fix. It was a little different but here is the thread if you want to read it. http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=12511
Hammerhead said:Thats what the ticket says, I haven't had the time to get the car up in the air to get a good look at what they did, but the difference in shifting is amazing. It almost shifts like the toploader in my 68.

wvwarrior said:My 2002 GT goes in on Tuesday for a new transmission from the factory. I asked the folks at Ford to tell me what fixes were included in the unit they sent to the dealer. According to Ford, the new transmission has all the updates that will appear in the "soon to be released" TSB. It's still cold here in Illinois so I should get a good read on the effectiveness of the updates.
