UFC 116 Lesnar vs. Carwin this weekend ladies!

Who's gonna watch it?

What do you think about the main event between Lesnar vs. Carwin?

The rest of the card looks like a class reunion of nothing but TUF alumni :D

great showing for Brock since he has been out of the game for so long and had some big health issues. Won in an unexpected way also. I saw that fight but not the card just found the fight online. Waiting for it to be free on the on demand station on time warner cable.

Anyone watch UFC 117?

Great fights!! If you missed them look them up online.

JDS vs. Roy Nelson was a great fight.

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen was a great fight too.

Hughes vs. Almedia was good.

Fitch vs. Alves was pretty much what I expected

like I said great fights. Check them out if you haven't already.

If you have what did you think?

I did see the fight, and i saw who won, He's had similar fights in the past. He can take a beating just like anyone else in the biz. And just because he was getting tagged doesnt mean they were fight threatening.

Silva has NEVER had a fight like this in the past. Had you watched the fight, you would have even heard the commentators say the EXACT same thing. He has never been dominated in a single round like he was on Saturday....and he was absolutely dominated by Sonnen for 4 and a half rounds.

Even Silva has said multiple time that this was, by far, the most challenging fight he's ever had. If you dont believe me, watch the post-fight conference

You honestly sound like someone who doesn't watch a lot of MMA fights but is still a Silva nut-swinger

And you sound like someone who doesnt train but watches UFC to live vicariously through them, if you knew me you'd know i CANT stand silva. I have my favorite fighters, and silva isnt one of them. Ive seen all the fights Since something like UFC 70-80ish, but i dont need to go into detail

Talk to me about you knowledge of the body and body movements and reactions when you've had 19 years of training and we'll talk.

He's right Guy. Silva has never been in a fight like that in UFC. Maybe back in his pride days but NOT in the UFC. Silva got his ass handed to him. Apparently he broke some ribs before the fight or during the first round. I am excited to see the rematch.

I also give Chael a lot of credit for not coasting in the round. He could have gone out there and danced around or even just laid on Anderson after he took him down and not worked. Instead he went in there and pushed Anderson some more and ended up getting caught. Regardless it was a great fight :nice:

To me i never saw silva really panicing or scrambling, and i thought right from the beginning it was gonna end in a submission, and when i said similar i maent the actual actions and motions of the fight. not the fight itself.

I agree he never looked like he was panicking but if it was just him biding his time I'm quite sure he'd have been looking for that triangle WAY before the middle of the 5th round. Now with his ribs being injured that could have been why he wasn't trying for more submission attempts. I haven't re-watched the fight to see if maybe he just hadn't had that type of opening to pull it off or not but it still seems odd he would wait that long. Like I said I'd like to see the rematch and see what happens. Maybe we'll see a different Silva or maybe we'll finally see him get his ass handed to him proper like :D

Everyone knew if/when Chael lost odds were it was going to be by submission. That's just how he looses. I was really rooting for him and to see him dominate Silva like that for so long was great. It was just too bad he got caught.

When 2 tigers fight, ones dies and the other one is close to death. Silva doesnt clash. He may not have been looking for a triangle persay, but i think he was just biding time to let sonnen get tired. Doesnt matter if he stands in the ring with his hands around his waist and sonnen tee's off for 4 rounds if he cant beat him he cant beat him. Remember when beating the champ it has to be clear cut, no decision. Silva knows this and was just waiting. But i think(hope) this is a wake up call and we wont see a lazy bored looking silva stepping into the ring. And he'll actually step up his game. But he knows he's good and knows just how much he has to train to win, no necessarily dominate, but win. It may not be exciting but thats what get you to the next fight

that could be but anyone that knows anything about Sonnen knows that he doesn't get tired. He was in shape and prepared to beat on Silva for 5 rounds. Part of his entire game plan was to wear Silva out and Silva knew that.

I know he's a great fighter who doesn't get challenged (or hasn't been in the UFC) and he knows what he has to do to win but I am not sure that's what this was.

As far as needing to beat the champ to be the champ.......idk about that. The used that excuse with Machida/Shogun the first time but did the exact opposite with BJ/Edgar. Edgar didn't definitively beat Penn in their championship fight but he still won the belt. Those are decision victories and that isn't what the Silva/Sonnen fight was. Silva won, but was it the best fighter on that night that won...........idk........I suppose that's a matter of opinion. :flag:

Maybe the judges dont like BJ
Silva may known sonned was going to try and wear him out, but that last round he looked tired. And i think thats exactly what he wanted, it all comes back to my last post, doesnt matter if he stands there and takes it for 5 rounds, if he wins in the end it doesnt matter, i dont believe in luck when it comes to fighting, especially in that fight, the more skilled fighter walked away with the belt. Sonnen fell victim to the same type of loss others have to silva, hopefully soon someone takes his belt and really rattles him. Maybe if Machida pulls his head out of his ass and starts training like he used to then a silva/machida fight would be awesome

After watching what Silva does to most guys on their feet I'm not sure anyone can out strike him. Not even Machida. I think it will take someone to out wrestle him like Sonnen did to beat him. I'm really not sure Silva/Machida would be that good of a fight since they have such similar styles. Silva has to have someone who will push the fight and engage him. I don't think Machida would do that, he likes to counter punch like Silva does. I'd still pay to see the fight though! :nice:

Im a counter fighter the same way machida is, so i like to see fights like that for technicality and precision, may not be exciting but i'll like it :)
