Oil coming from dipstick, leakdown results, Am I getting blow-by?

I was playing around with my car the other day and then went to the gas station to fill up. I went to check my oil like usual and their was oil all over my sparkplug wires, a/c like all that stuff on my drivers side. I checked my dipstick and their was oil all the way up the stick so the oil obviously came from there. Just before that I changed my oil and I put way too much(for some reason I thought you had to add a little more for the blower). I figured I just put too much oil in. I drained some oil but it still blows oil our of the dipstick. I just got done doing a leakdown test on cyl 4 &5. Both of them, according to my gauge, said 65%-60% leakage and when I popped off my breather, I can feel air coming out. Not exactly want I want to hear but I guess its not that bad of timing since im outta school. I am however, broke and college is coming up soon so I need to replace it by then. What else could it be? Another thing, it only blows oil out under boost and WOT. Could that be something like a PCV valve or something pressurizing my crankcase? Im gonna go do a few more cyl with the leakdown tester and see what I come up with.

as the air is coming out of the crankcase it is either a really bad head gasket or you need rings.

Basically you are pressurizing the crankcase with the cylinder pressure. Is one (or two) cylinders worse than the others?

Bad news just did a compression test:

4-145 psi 8-70 psi
3-140 psi 7-135 psi
2-145 psi 6-135 psi
1-160 psi 5-125 psi

Of course, Number 8 cyl was the last one I checked so I was all happy that maybe my car is fine until I checked that one. Im gonna do it again to make sure there wasnt a mistake in my testing. The head gaskets were replaced 7-8 months ago too. Could a blown HG be pressurizing crankcase pressure tho?

If the number 8 head gasket blew across to an oil passage, then yes, it could pressurize the crankcase. 70psi makes me think it is a ring though.

All at once though? I am thinking it is the HG....

Does the coolant look OK (no oil in it)?

Oil is not frothy (white) I hope.

Isn't there a trick where you put some heavy weight oil onto the cylinder to help seal the rings then re-test the compression?

I know I remember that from somewhere...

Actually before the oil shooting out, my coolant would leak from my thermostat housing and it seemed it was only doing that under wot or boost too but I figured it was jsut a leaking gasket. Coolant looks ok i guess, its not green but its not white like it was when I blew a HG like last time.

Yes, if you put a few drops of heavy weight oil in the cylinder that is giving you the problem, and do another comp. test, you should have your anwser. If the compression goes up, its the rings. If still the same problem, more than likely the head gasket.

Wow am I an idiot or what? This whole time after I put oil in my cylinder and nothing happened FOR SOME REASON I thought that meant a blown ring/piston. I was jsut talking to my dad about what I did and how I asked for extra shifts at work to pay for a new shortblock and I realized that no change=blown headgasket!!! What a way to waste a whole day. I was so depressed about having to cough up all this money for a shortblock and now I might not have to. Im gonna start taking the head off tomorw I think. Once the head is off, how can I check how good my shortblock really is? Does that engine restore **** work?
