Oil Filter Housing

Just got a rebuilt 302 block from a 79 Fairlane going in my 67 coupe. somewhere between the shipping and me dropping it in my oil filter bolt (What the oil filter threads on to) has 3 bad threads on in stripping every filter. i know that they make them with hex holes on the aftermarket filter housings but mine is round. What do you recomend for getting it off. is it threaded in, Would vice grips unthread it. Any ideas are welcomed.

you may try a thread chaser file to clean the dammaged area. i have pulled them out before. they are threaded in. i used a pipe wrench to get the old one out and that wasnt easy, it will destroy the old one.

well im not concerned about the old one i want to put in a new one with the allen head inside the bolt. I think i will try to just unthread it. pipe wrench huh. i think ill give it a shot thank you.
