Hi there.

I'm having a problem where oil is being sucked up through the PCV into the baseplate under the carb. The volume of oil is so much that it is building up in the exhaust system and causing white smoke out the back. If I disconnect the PCV and seal off the nub on the carb base (for vacuum), it corrects iteslf.

I've done just about anyhting that can be done to a Mustang and have rebuilt several engines. Never seen this before.

Any ideas??? Thanks.

Sounds like you don't have a baffle under the PCV valve in the valve cover.

Did you change out the valve covers to a style that doesn't have baffles? Some of the aftermarket valve covers don't come with them and the oil spray from the rockers will be directed right at the PVC area. I would think that you would see oil around the base of the PVC grommet, too.

You guys beat me to it.

You could try running a straight breather instead of the PCV hose.

better to just do it right, put baffles in, and retain the PCV

Nothing wrong with running a breather instead. Most likely you would still have to put in a baffle if you didn't want oil slowly leaking out of your breather over time.
